I just thought I'd bring this e-petition to the attention of anyone else who thinks its time the Government disclosed all it knows about that dreadful day.

Ok..just wanted to add that this petition has now made the headlines at 6 o'clock news because so many people have now signed the petiton. Its really important for the future of crowd control and also for the many bereaved families that the entire truth is revealed.

I notice that KD has signed it... greatest respect for him for that, what a good example to set.

This isn't just really important for crowd control, not just important for those still-grieving families... it's important for democracy, justice and truth.

Those families... those people who lost their lives... there but for the grace of god go I.

I'm surprised and disappointed that more comment hasn't been made to this, particularly as this is a parents' website and given the ages and family statuses of those who died.

i've signed it but...

can someone explain to me why the gov won't release it?

i've heard on the news that they are appealing the ruling to release the doc?

Report
auntpetunia · 23/08/2011 20:03

they won't want to release it probably because it will say like The Shite rag ... sorry The Sun said that it was all the fault of the Liverpool fans!

Report
freybean · 23/08/2011 20:09

but i thought it was bad crowd control?

Thanks for that auntpetunia...very sensitive. Hmm

No, i think it is likely to put a lot of blame on the police and authorities. Its not surprising really, considering the mood at the time was very anti rioting. But the very tactics they put in place led to a tradegy as they piled more and more people into an enclosure far too small for them. There was no way to escape so many were crushed to death.

Really bad mistakes were made and I think its likely to demonstrate exactly how bad those mistakes were.

so its a case of them trying to cover it up?

sorry for taking over your thread op Blush

not at all...it keeps it near the top!

That's a good question. Really its known that there was a major organisational gaff that led to too many fans being pushed through the gates into too small a space. The tall enclosing fences stopped them being able to escape.

The independant committee have agreed that these documents should be made public so what the governemnt think they will gain by this is unclear.

I just feel so sorry for the families, many of who lost teenagers. If it was you, you'd want to know, right? I would.

of course, when it was on the news earlier they showed a memorial which showed 2 or 3 people with the same surname Sad

but like you said, i don't understand why the govenment won't release them

what is that remark for?

I am saying what most people in Liverpool think they won't want to release the paperwork as it was widely agreed in the immediate aftermath, as displayed by the Sun the next day with it's headlines of people robbing off the dead, that the fault lay with rowdy Liverpool fans. If you don't like me saying what we all know then tough. I have 3 friends who lost family members at Hillsborough they deserve to know everything that was said.

I'm sorry, I just read this phrase to mean that you think the whole thing was all the fault of the Liverpool fans...

Forget all the bullshit written about it for just one second, if there is one completely unjustifiable action taken on that day (amid many of them, some of which can be attributed to panic and a totally inexperienced officer in charge) WHY when they knew damn well people were dying did they only allow one of over 40 ambulances outside the stadium in to help the injured and dying?

Dear God somebody in authority justify that. I'm pretty sure that alone is criminal. If I witness an accident and do nothing to help such as call the emergency services you can betchya my neck would be on the block. Remember that, over 40 ambulances with life saving equipment and medical experts on board and ONE got onto the pitch :(

Hello all

As some of you will know, we usually delete threads that are plugs for e-petitions. But as this one has generated a good discussion, we're just going to move it to In The News.

For future ref, please don't start threads just to plug petitions - they will probably be deleted.

Thanks,
MNHQ
