TheMagnificentBathykolpian Sat 06-Aug-11 21:44:08

Not heard anything. surely if it was true it would be all over the news?

sfxmum Sat 06-Aug-11 21:45:15

there are pictures about and warnings to keep away but mostly online

JemimaMuddledUp Sat 06-Aug-11 21:48:36

I came on here to see if there was anything after seeing your status on FB. There is another thread on this Topic, but they are probably the pictures that you have seen already. Very frightening.

gallicgirl Sat 06-Aug-11 21:48:54

Not hot enough for proper riots.

gallicgirl Sat 06-Aug-11 21:54:46

then again:

JemimaMuddledUp Sat 06-Aug-11 21:55:00

BBC

AuntieMonica Sat 06-Aug-11 21:55:45

it's on BBC News 24

sfxmum Sat 06-Aug-11 21:57:48

so possibly more like disturbances rather than rioting
one of dh's acquaintances, living locally, emailed saying there was a lot of commotion

marimo Sat 06-Aug-11 22:05:09

In Stamford Hill, so not in immediate area, but lots of sirens earlier and now helicopters...

TanyaBranning Sat 06-Aug-11 22:41:22

I have friends in Tottenham who say from their window they can see a group of about 200-300 people throwing petrol bombs and uprooted paving slabs at a wall of police cars and vans sad

JemimaMuddledUp Sat 06-Aug-11 22:45:52

According to Twitter shops are being looted.

squeakytoy Sat 06-Aug-11 23:00:11

people on twitter saying the police horseboxes are being unloaded sad

I absolutely hate hate hate seeing the horses being on the front line of violence.. the police choose their job, the poor animals dont sad

peskykitty Sat 06-Aug-11 23:29:40

It is on sky news now live.

I live not far away.

My children's father lives 2 minutes away.

Very scary, very sad.

sad

scottishmummy Sat 06-Aug-11 23:31:35

what a stupid point to make
police dont chose to be potentially attacked, and im not boo hooing about a horse

peskykitty Sat 06-Aug-11 23:34:54

There are children as young as 8 and 9 in amongst it all.

The reporter is saying that gangs of youths are running from Seven Sisters towards the scene.

LynetteScavo Sat 06-Aug-11 23:38:25

If you join the police, you know what you are letting yourself in for.

I always feel sorry for the horses, too. They are totally amazing, and I wouldn't call myself an animal lover.

Al0uiseG Sat 06-Aug-11 23:43:49

A bus has been torched, shops are being looted. It's carnage. The poor horses don't have any choice in the matter, they hardly signed up for Police training.

Tottenham riots, historically, don't end well. What is it about Tottenham??

scottishmummy Sat 06-Aug-11 23:43:58

no.a desire to do difficult job eg police doesnt mean what you get is to be expected

bizarre logic to boofuckinghoo worried about a horse and be so glib about a mum/dad/brother/sister who is staff,as they knew what they were signing up for

scottishmummy Sat 06-Aug-11 23:46:30

bemused all the boofuckinghoo what about the horses
get a grip and sense of priority

Al0uiseG Sat 06-Aug-11 23:47:43

Some people's priority is animal welfare.

Not rioting yobs.

sfxmum Sat 06-Aug-11 23:47:52

I suppose given the history of the particular area whatever happens will have to be dealt with carefully

Al0uiseG Sat 06-Aug-11 23:49:11

A woman holding a baby had to be rescued from her flat as it was above shops being looted and torched.

What posesses these people?

scottishmummy Sat 06-Aug-11 23:51:54

prioritise a horse over staff.wring hands about pony instead of staff
yes,im sure the fuckwits are in tears and turmoil about horse, rather than staff
easier to emotionally big up an animal, than engage about difficult situation staff are in

Al0uiseG Sat 06-Aug-11 23:55:17

Animals don't have a history of throwing petrol bombs. I'd rather be concerned about their safety than rioting, looting arsonists.
