Apologies if this has already been posted.

The telegraph must be having a slow news day...

So I'm meant to be a DMOB, am I? Where the hell is she getting all that crap from?

Mothers of girls are welcome to them, by the way. I wouldn't know what to do with one, myself. Or is that me being supposedly defensive?

I have two boys
They are fucking excellent
I never really think of them in terms of their gender
They are very different in personality
I pity people who have to make money by thinking up and reporting such utter wank
They must be dead inside

I didn't have or want a choice in my children's gender so it's nothing to be smug about. I don't think any of my parenting decisions are based on my children's gender either. Neither are their toys or books. Ok, they wear girl's clothes as well as neutrals, but if I had boys I wouldn't stop them from picking the glitter fairy costume out of a dressing up box at playgroup.

If anything, I was always very annoyed during my second pregnancy when people suggested that I really must be hoping to have a boy this time, so I'd have one of each, or asked if we'd go for a third pregnancy should we have another girl.

It's just a long rambling Mumsnet post. One that nobody is interested in.

What a first class bore she really is.

Blimey. Someone linked to the DM covering this 'story' and the DM one wasn't quite as bad. Shock

Anyhow, I just searched and its Orm's fault

Am disappointed that the Telegraph would approve such drivel. Standards must be slipping.

I am apparently a smog, what with having four of them.

Yep that's what I feel every day. Smug, smug, smug. Especially when 3 of them, plus me, are hormonal on the same week.

Bliss.

I was at a childrens centre a few yes ago when I overheard a mum boasting She actually used the words smug mum of 3 girls!! I thought what an idiot I hAve one of each but would have been annoyed if I was in the place if wanting a particular sex at her tactlessness. All children are a gift.

I have 2 girls. They are lovely. If I had had 2 boys, they would have been lovely too.

Meh - competitive parenting BS should not be given the oxygen of publicity.

I thought Judith Woods looked like a trans-sexual in the photo.

What a load of bum trumpeting cods-wallop! Could she have shoe-horned in any more "oh so witty and terribly well educated" phrases?

Whenever I read this kind of article it just makes me want to come on here and say "O.K. Hands up, who said something nasty about (insert peeved jorno name here) then?" Amodmilly - I'm eye-balling you. Naughty.

Amodmillymum · 09/08/2011 00:07

looks around innocently I am sure I don't what you mean. I was just making an honest observation. I didn't get to the end of the article because all I read was 'wah, wah, wah' more bollocks about how mine are better than yours. I have one of each and they both drive my mental in completely different ways as you would expect. Typical divisive copy that continues to divide and conquer women so men stay in charge and we are their slaves. I am a girl and from 13 onwards I was pretty vile. I am sure smug mothers of girls become fraught mothers of hormonal devil teens once the little angels start menstruating.

I didn't say you were wrong Grin.

I'm a DMOBWWP(ih)ABLTAWAB - Doting Mother of Boys Who Would Prefer (if honest) A Bit Less Talk About Willy's And Bums.

It is divisive, your spot on and (despite her desperately alliterated prose) sort of moronic, what with it being an article bitching about women bitching about women. Deeply perceptive and illuminating, I don't think.
