What about a judicial inquiry into big companies like Tesco? Lets clean up the whole system....what ministers sit on what boards, what contracts they have given out etc?

The Government presumably has a relationship with all businesses making a material contribution to the economy.

I think, unless something illegal has happened, that there would be no requirement for a judicial review. It's fairly easy to find out who sits on which boards - it's not illegal for MPs to do this. MPs also have to declare interest now.

I assume the point you're making is to determine whether anything untoward has happened but unless there is evidence there would be nothing upon which to base a review.

it's not as bad as america where Bush sat on oil company boards at the same time as supporting motions to drill the rockies for oil!

with tesco, it's more local planning committees accepting money from them to support economic development alongside of their store building.

I do wish that someone would do something about the Tesco land grab, but as the land database (of all available land) is managed by the Daily Mail Group, I can't see anyone jumping up to do anything fast!

Not just tesco...what about gsk and the flu jabs/mmr vacines etc. There are lots of issues that could be now examined in the cold light of day now we have faced up to unsuitable links between big business and ministers.

The British political system is very well-regulated and corruption is at a remarkably low level. There is full disclosure of which MPs sit on which committees and which boards and which companies contribute to party funds. When MPs and others are found to be breaching rules they are investigated and, as we saw in the expenses scandal, jailed where appropritate. I think the NOTW hacking scandal is now leading to a form of mass hysteria, much of which is not justified in the slightest.
