I'm not sure how it could get much worse really? We know DC and RB are friends.

What I mean is there is unlikely to be anything more sinister relating to Cameron.

he has refused to back calls for RB to resign before she's sacked (or worse)

so what does he say & how does he look when she's arrested?

NOTW backed the tories the last election and Cameron was expecting them to put him in again at the next election. All of the parties have sucked up to the press at one time and another as the newspapers do have a lot of power over elections as a lot of the stupid voters believe everthing that is printed. IMO they are all the bloody same out for themselves and bugger us lot

Except Ed Miliband has said that he refuses to play the game and suck up to Murdoch. Let's hope there'll be no need now anyway.

It was "The Sun Wot Won It" - no political heavyweight has ever ignored The Sun. It really will be a huge shift if that were to change.

the Guardian is reporting that Andy Coulson will be arrested tomorrow (or at least is to go to a police station with his solicitor, arrest likely).

Now what will DC do about that?

"nothing to do with me, guv"

Hmm

error of judgment my arse

The Sun claims it wins elections but in fact they swing in behind whoever's leading in the polls before the elections. Not difficult for them to see which way the wind's blowing.

Wouldn't it be just great if we could dare to imagine a world without Murdoch? Got to keep the pressure on and not let this fade away. Public outrage has achieved so much in just three days - potentially we are very powerful.

yes, cinnamontoast, that's how it always looks to me too, I don't understand why the parties always creep around Murdoch the way they have for so long (let's hope that's over now!)

To think that Cammeron et al, isn't tied up in this is a little blinkered. He hired coulson and then dismissed him well in time [when they knew the shit would eventually hit the fan for him]. He is best friends with RB. Murdock...papers...bsky...conservative backing and Boris Johnson. Don't think anymore needs to be said really.

The sooner the better.

They're all as bad as each other. Gordon brown was very good friends with piers Morgan. I can't believe that piers Morgan wouldn't have been involved in all of this during his stint as editor.

Wouldn't that be fab, though there is also criticism coming in from a more unexpected quarter

Maxwell went......
Conrad Black went......
Rupert Murdoch is not invincible nor above the law. He thought being a kingmaker would protect him but DC may have to keep clear.

All very Citizen Kane.

awaits coulson in handcuffs ............. so he committed perjury then?

Cousin is to be interviewed at a police station tomorrow, and probably arrested, so it's unlikely there will be much that can be said publicly (sub judice and all that).

But it puts the pressure on DC - if he hasn't nailed his colours to the mast by Sunday at the latest, then he's holed below the waterline (not sure why I'm coming over all nautical - maybe it's rats leaving a sinking ship?)

luckily for Morgan he was well away from the NotW by this time (he was only there from 94-95).

He may have known a bit about it but was at the Mirror then (until he was sacked in 2004 \link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3716151.stm\over those dodgy photos})(& to this day I don't know why he didn't realise at the time they were dodgy, they were far too beautifully framed & focused Hmm)
