People should just vote with their wallets and not buy it. Was it the Sun who lost most of Merseyside when it reported that people were icking the pockets of Hillsborough victims? They really suffered from the downturn in sales after that.

Like all companies, News International are mostly concerned with their share price. They need circulation because higher circulation means more advertising revenue and more revenue means more profit. If we stop buying the newspapers and if advertisers are persuaded to go elsewhere that's about as much damage as can be inflicted.

Don't think anything's going to get the NOTW circulation back up this weekend, really. If they've any sense they'll print a one page flyer saying 'sorry' and keep their heads down.

I've just seen the following as someone's FB status:

"Anyone buying NOTW this weekend might like to ask the newsagent to put it inside a copy of Mayfair to avoid embarrassment."

I've copied and pasted, in the hope that others will do the same- it might just help to set the mood for a general NOTW boycott.

Not sure how many of my FB are NOTW anyway, though...

I don't buy or read the news of the world but I shop in a supermarket that sells it, I drink coffee in a coffee shop that provides it ... I have emialed Waitrose and my local store manager to ask them to consider not sellin git this weekend, and have spoken to the manager in my local Costa coffee and asked her not to buy it with the other Sunday papers. If every other person who feels strongly about this spoke to Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Starbucks, Care Nero, the barber, the hairdresser, the pub anywhere where they sell or buy it and siad that as a regular customer they would prefer them not to sell/provide it people would start to listen.

Wow. 200 staff out a job and she still has her job.... Now how does that work? I do hope the staff there has free reign on content for the last edition on Sunday.
