Important - BEKO fridge freezers - fire risk

Do you have one? The London Fire Brigade has found faulty BEKO fridge freezers were the cause of 20 London house fires.

BEKO website says which models have the fault.

They are having a recall, but if you have one of these, you may want to get on to the company asap.

Mine has a plate inside the fridge part, giving serial number and model number. Need good eyesight to read it!

Yes please could someone tell me where to find the serial no on ours? Worryingly was saying to dh the other day that I thought I could smell a burnt smell in our kitchen (which wasn't my cooking :o)

Where is the serial number written on the fridge itself, does anyone know? I don't want to start trying to pull mine away from the wall if it's written somewhere more accessible!

It was on the left hand side just above the glass shelf covering the salad drawer.

Dammit. Have searched the inside and the bits I can see and can't find the number anywhere. I'm going to have to wait for DH to get home so we can pull it out and check behind.

Phew, mine was actually hidden by the salad drawer (thanks 5inthebed) and luckily we're fine too.

It is now thought that it was one of these units that caused the fire in the Bermondsey flats rather than lightning the other day.

I had a letter as they thought I had one, but it had been replaced a couple of years ago after it broke down when the freezer part failed and heated up .

The replacement is absolutely fine though, thank goodness.

my models on list but when i put seriel number in it says its not affected. I have had a problem with it overheating and cutting out. Im going to contact them anyway

I have an 08 model but i have had it repaired out of warrenty about 6 months ago. It had been overheating and cutting out a few times in the past week then turns itself back on. I dont think its only models up to 06. I am trying to contact them but no joy

Has anyone else had problems with the newer models?

shit, we've got one of the models listed. DH is gonna check the serial number later. No idea where we bought it though!
