Honeymooner killed in ZA

Honeymoon ends in tragedy Terrible nightmare for all concerned. A young bride dead. Very surprised that a taxi-driver would take a wealthy-looking young foreign couple into a township at 11pm. Most of the locals advise foreigners to give the poorer areas a wide berth... for precisely this reason. Hope the murderers are brought to justice.

taxi driver will be in on it. That was my first thought when I saw the story. Who in their right mind drives tourists near a township at that time of night.

From the article is says they were visitng wineries near the townships, there's not many roads that go back into Cape Town.

Difficult to speculate at this point if the taxi driver was in on it or not.

Infact the road that leads back from Somerset West where they were visiting goes right past the township, it's often unavoidable to go close to them/through the main roads on them

Horrific case, hopefully the local people will give any information they have - they often rely on the township tours for income so won't want to lose that Sad

Very sad - they look like a really lovely couple. Was just looking at their wedding pictures.

Apparently they were looking fo ra restaurant that Jamie Oliver had recommended - and it was outside one of the townships...so doesn't appear to be any suggestion the taxi driver set them up

Mzoli's - hang out of international visitors and celebs (and locals) - just on the edge of Guguletu.

I stayed in Somerset West with my Aunt many years ago and you do drive right past Khayelitsha to go in and out of Cape Town.

Whatever happened, I feel so sorry for her husband and family, what a tragedy.

They asked to be driven into a township to experience 'the Real South Africa' apparently. Sadly, I think they achieved their wish.

I see that someone's been arrested.

As tragic as this is (and it is heartbreaking), I still can't get over how stupid they were to ask to drive into a township at night (I'm South African). And I can't believe the driver took them.
