How to clean a large basket of soft toys?

We've been accumulating them for 3 years. There's loads of them and my husband is sensitive to house dust. I need to do something about cleaning them, but they all say surface clean. Also, a few have really lovely jellycat soft fur and some others are really special/expensice/beautiful and I don't think would withstand a wash. What to do?

Bung the less special ones in the wash anyway and see how they come out.

Can you hoover the other ones? If your husband is sensitive to house dust, presumably you have a good hoover with a dust filter (or whatever they're called)

I have used on a silk dress and it came out brilliant - removed the stain fine, I wouldn't use it for dh shirts suits or anything - I use a drycleaner but i did find it smely nicre than then drycleaned clothes and worked well ona low heat. also used on cushion covers with no ill effects but not cuddley toys.

I used to have loads of soft toys when I was a teen. I also have allergy and I am glad that i gave them away before I developed asthma.. sorry for not toys-friendly comment

you can kill any dustmites by putting them in carrier bags and freezing for 24 hours...

so you could hoover the really special ones then freeze them

You can dunk them in a bucket of talc, then vacuum it off - absorbs all the dirt and grease from fingers and makes your toys smell like a baby's bum (which for some reason, some people think is a good thing )

agree with nannylm - freezing kills the bugs. Anthea Turner said it so it must be true!

I chuck 'em in the washing machine on a gentle cycle...
