Mini FLY needed

NoFlysOnMe · 21/01/2010 18:12

I need some help from experienced Flyers.
My house is a tip, piles of stuff everywhere. I can barely keep on top of the daily round of feeding kids, cleaning up after them, doing washing, dishes, shopping. etc.

I just need somewhere to start. A basic chores schedule that will keep everything moving on a day to day basis and also make a start at tackling long-term build-up of stuff and actual cleaning .

I have 2.5 childfree hours a day but have to have lunch during them. In the evenings I could spare an hour for FLYing.
I refuse to get up earlier.

I have a timer!

Please can someone put me on track?!

TIA

join the fledgling thread - tis good.

15 min bursts at a time only - things are less scary then. Oh and tidy big stuff first - makes more of a dent so helps morale

Have you tried the babysteps??

OR I have a list that I do - it seems heaps but is actually doable in 5 mins blocks between doing stuff for the dc's..I can either post it here or email it to you? But you might look at it and freak out!! LOL!!

Sort of OT - I had a bit of a breakdown recently..one of the first things to go potty is the housework when i am heading into a spiral..DH knows this and he was a champ recently. He took a day off and dealt with Mt Washmore for me..then we put systems in place to stop it getting that bad again..and I have been FLYing ever since. Additionally, I havnt spiraled or needed to go back on my meds - nor have I felt like I needed to!! I find, personally, that the state of the house has a massive effect on my mental state - but I may just be bonkers!!

Let me know if you want more info...dont want to bore you otherwise!! LOL But trust me, when I went down, I went down HARD and my house was a tip!! So it can be turned around!!

It depends how BAD things currently are.

the babysteps are brilliant to get things into a sense of order for you to then get yourself your own routine.

There are few things that I have to do every day that keeps ontop of the house,

after getting up I use one of the old terrys nappies (an old tshirt would do) to rub down the sink and clear off the taps and wipe over the back of the loo just to keep it dusted and toothpaste free. this takes 30 seconds to 1 minute.
I then go into the boys bedrooms and make sure the bed is made and make sure my bed is made.

During this time the boys have gone downstairs and are faffing about what to have for breakfast.
It adds 3 minutes MAX to my getting downstairs but really makes a psychological difference.

after breakfast I make sure that the table is clear and I set the dishwasher going.
I take a load out of the washer and hang it up.
whilst the boys play for 20 minutes I iron the washing from yesterday.

the rest of the day there is a bonus if I get anything else done.

before I go to bed I load the washing machine and set it to start to the cycle finishes just as we are getting up.

If I didn't do these things Mount Washmore (mentioned earlier) would be a permanent fixture here. The bathroom grime builds up but by doing a tickle each morning it is never awful!

Like the previous poster, my mental health is linked to my house, and when I am down it is a shit heap and when I am up it is clean and tidy.

Greyskull that sounds good.

My problem is more to do with the accumulation of stuff like things the DC have taken out and not put away, discarded garments that are neither clean nor dirty, books and papers, bits and pieces piled on the worksurfaces...

The tangible stuff like doing the washing or dishes is not so bad as it is a known quantity iyswim
