I hate washing up - any tips to make it easier?

I recently split from my partner and now living on my own and don't have a dishwasher, having been used to having one for about 2 years. I absolutely hate washing up and am really really missing it! What are your top tips? I think my biggest problem is I know I should do it every day but I forget and then it mounts up and looks horrible and is just a huge job that I hate doing.

could you get a dishwasher?

Use paper plates?

Do it little and often- don't let it mount up. When you have used crockery/cutlery/pans wash them up immediately afterwards and put them away.

What fay said.

Also put music/radio 4 on - whatever is your cup of tea - certainly helps me when doing kitchen chores.

Sing 'Sisters are doing it for themselves' while washing up. smile

rinse everything straight after use and wash up as soon as you can. dried on food takes much longer and more effort to remove unless you soak for ages.

Heavens above. Go to IKEA and get a really cheap, small size one?
I never used to mind it, but now that Im used to a dishwasher would also find it a drag.

Try and cut down on what you use. For example I use the same mug all day (I only drink black coffee so it's no big deal for me)

I also do lazy things short cuts like cook potatoes, then after a few minutes add other veggies in the same pan.

Give up cereal like weetabix that sets like cement wink

do all washing up as soon as it's required and then you won't be faced with daunting pile of it.
See it as a beauty regime and slather some handcream on before you put your gloves on, put your favourite radio station on or favourite cd, and then the heat of the water will leave you with the smoothest most beautiful hands while you sing along to your music! smile
