That's what we used to do on Xmas Eve Grouchy, and dh would still like the thrill of putting it up then - well done you for holding out. In all the story books they go out on Christmas Eve to find a tree..

TO DO
might make the bed (and hide in it for good measure)
menu-planned last night for next five days to use food we have
so today need to make Gratin Dauphinoise to go with roasted cod & bacon for lunch
Go out for I hour by myself on various errands
Long walk with nuclear family on Common
late-ish lunch
3.30 German xmas present opening from absent relatives and toasting tree ceremony, light candles on tree etc
6.00 Children's service at Church
7.30 simple late supper of pasta - smoked salmon and dill version for dh
8.30 ALL CHILDREN FAST ASLEEP FOR FATHER CHRISTMAS

I must get showered and dressed. Oh, yes, and take week-old nail varnish off. Back later!

I'm just aiting for ds1 to wake from his nap so we can leave for my mum's. Although, probably hould have tried to keep him up because now he'll get bored and ratty on the train.

I should be doing the hoovering, but it's christmas, so having a couple of days off

Hello again to everyone. Not much really to report here. Dd has been out taking photos and, fair play to her, she took our dog for a walk at the same time. Ds has been playing carols with a small ensemble for charity. Dh is hand delivering a Christmas card and is probably going to yak away with them as their card said to "call round for a chat".

I've cleaned the kitchen (small) fridge with dd's and dh's help. Two loads of washing have been done and I've still got some ironing to do. We're home for Christmas this year and we're all finding it so much more relaxing. Yay! I have already told ds and dd that when they are older they are NOT to feel duty bound to visit us at Christmas if they'd really prefer to be elsewhere. I could quite happily celebrate Christmas with them a month or whatever early or late if it made their lives any easier.

I feel a bit guilty that I hadn't found out about the Church services myself for this year as the neighbour who used to let us know has moved and we hadn't really realised how much we relied on her to keep us informed. I might walk up to the Church in a mo to see what it says on the noticeboard. Better go before it gets too dark. Back later, perhaps!

We've had our first celebration family meal complete with themed decs!
I was beginning to feel grumpy - then swallowed some organic cider and felt very jolly, even falling off my chair hilarious. Well worth being sober for the last two months.
Fire is lit, rellies presents opened, eating loads of cake, playing games etc. Ds1 keeps asking plaintively when we are going to be allowed to watch telly, but you can't please everyone....
And I have hand delivered three more neighbours' presents, so even got some brisk walking in today.

See you on Boxing Day everyone - sleep well, don't fall off your chair, and other useful advice.
xxxxx
