radiators in child's bedroom?

What do you all do for heating in your dc's rooms? We have central heating with a radiator in dd's room. It has no thermostatic valve so comes on at a pretty high temperature (very cold old house half-way through being renovated). DD is still in a cot but will be in a toddler bed I expect within next 6 months - would be worried about potential for burns if she is out of bed early in the morning. Options? turn rad off in her room (then she'll be cold), get therostatic valve to adjust to lukewarm temp (then she won't be warm enough), radiator covers? Keep her in a cot till she's 15 years old?

She would be unlikely to get burnt on a radiator - it isn't remotely as hot as a fire. She would feel it was too hot and then move away.
Thermostatic valve would seem a sensible idea so you can keep room reasonably warm but not as warm as downstairs areas.

we've always had radiators and none of the children have ever burned themselves on them. as lilymaid says, they can feel they're hot.

that said you can buy a thermostatic valve to put on i think, which wouild be useful, we tend to keep the boys' room cooler anyway

You could always get a radiator cover like one of these.

We just propped some cushions up against the base of the radiator in DS's room, mainly so he wouldn't bang his head on it when he was a baby. He is 14 months old now and walking, and has not managed to burn himself on a radiator.
