dont know how to use my hotpoint washing machine-help!

landlady has bought us new washing machine. it is a reconditioned hotpoint aquarius1200 WM64....

we dont have an instruction manual though. have just a wool wash and dps heavy cardigan still full of water so wanted to do a spin cycle. i cant seem to work oiut how to do that though! have turned dial to the what looks like the spin symbol (at the end of E 8 o'clock on the dial)

anybody know what i should be doing? this isnt working and i havent clue what else i should be doing!
