i know they fit in my machine, as i have done it before. however its hardly drying weather outside, and my mum has told me not to tumble them. any suggestions??

Yes, tumble them.

Shouldn't be a problem, I always do with mine, tho' I'm assuming yours are fibre filled. I don't use feather filled due to allergies.

I just give the pillows a good shake and pull them back into shape before putting them in the dryer and again when I take them out. A fibre filled duvet is fine in the dryer.

I'm shock that you can wash duvets in your machine. Last time I tried, it didn't get wet through and so I was equally suspicious of how well-rinsed it was. We have a fairly big drum I think (Bosch if that helps). What setting do you use?

Also last time I washed a pillow the fibre filling balled up and I haven't been able to straighten it out. Maybe I'm just a numpty at these things blush
