Hi,

My washing machine started banging on the spin cycle a few days ago. Its not on the fast spin, its just before the fast spin or just before it goes fast. It sounds a bit like i have a trainer in there

Is it broken or is there a simple answer? Its not moving and i cant move it. Cant not use the washing m/c but mum said the more i use it the worse it will get .... Can i get a call out on the home insurance?? lol Money is v v v tight.

Thank you :-D

Hmm, mine does this sometimes. I think there is something 'stuck' between the drum and whatever else is in there. Though I don't have a clue really.

When it happens I just spin the drum by hand a bit and it seems to stop it happening for a while.

wire out of an underwired bra? This is what happened to mine - goes through the holes in the drum into the machine - knocked a bit of the machine out of kilter. £50 to fix...

I was going to say a wire too. I stupidly put my witches hat through machine and wire came out and it banged. luckily it was only halfway through holes and pulled out ok

Yes we had this too - small plastic teddy bear in our case. Sorry but you will need to get somebody in - do you know any handy type people?

It could be because it's moved and become uneven on the floor. They all tend to 'walk' a little bit over time and if it's got to a bit of the floor that's not perfectly level it will wobble when spinning and this will cause a knocking noise. Either move it, if you can, or try the little adjuster feet underneath it to see if you can make it more stable.

One of the metal brackets that holds the drum in place has probably snapped.

It could be that the drum is under weight and it's balancing the weight out on the spin

Sounds to me like what BellaLasagne said. It might have gradually shifted while being used.

Level the machine up by sticking wedges of card under the feet. The banging is the drum rocking violently on its axis and impacting the frame which makes a booming sound inside the hollow metal box of the cabinet.

A level washing machine with all 4 feet in contact with the ground means the drum does not rock about.
