strange Starbear, it looks very sunny here and we are West L. Perhaps clouds are gathering from the South West.

SimplyWantsAMagicWandPlease Fri 09-Oct-09 09:26:39

swanriver Your 20p a practice system made me smile! Cake and casserole sounds like a lovely homecoming. I think I'm right in thinking that your ds1 is away atm?

Starbear My dsis has a watch that beeps at the same time every weekday to remind her it'll soon be school pick-up time. Or did. Her youngest is now at secondary school. Where does time go?

It's supposed to be raining here sometime this morning but there is no sign of it yet. I might cut the grass later if it's still dry. Bbl.

I need to known how to make sponge cake with a little something and cream & fruit my favorite as a kid. My Mum used to go to Bayswater to buy it!!! swanriver Fri 09-Oct-09 12:36:06

Delia?
ingredients at room temperature not from fridge, soft marg or butter (I use Lurpak Spreadable - not light kind)
put everything in bowl, electric cake beater
bake in a non-stick or greaseproof lined tin wwith removable base
make sure it is cooked before removing from oven(test with knife or skewer)
stay optimistic when it doesn't look perfect
ice when completely cool
stay optimistic when bits of cake crumb come off whilst you are icing it

or you could try the whisked sponge method [menacing grin which is nice with cream...

As you can see I am a novice.

scattyspice Fri 09-Oct-09 12:45:05

I am in awe at anyone who bakes smile. One day I will learn.

Tort - well done with the costumes, I go check out your pics.
Swan - hurray for the car key!

Collect DC (remember PE kits)

lidl
clean kitchen

Makingchanges Fri 09-Oct-09 13:54:15

Afternoon all

Hope everyone is well. Yay to Swan for finding car keys (they've been gone a while). Good for you for knuckling down with the revision Leo and good luck with the birthday Tort - Hello to anyone I've missed.

Well should be at school this afternoon but had a word this morning and agreed to come in for two morning rather than two full days from now on - I'm struggling to do everything in the time that I have and getting a little stressed with it and figured there isn't much difference in the experience I get between a full or 1/2 day but I make a happier mummy and wife.

So i've come home to get some more of my PGCE app done and a few bits of housework before I'm giving myself an hour off for the gym (another thing I need to make time for or cancel if i'm not going to use)

I'm just giving myself a lunch break before I get on with the jobs and thought i'd say hi

BBL

Tonight me and DH are talking money. We are going to contact CC companies on Tuesday am and have a meeting at the bank too (want to see if they will offer a loan to consolidate debt).

I have cancelled Sky (we only have basic package - need it as no arial)
Tried to can my mobile (but still have 4 months contract left to run)

To do

Cancel Pet insurance
look at any other savings we can make.
Look at any thing we can sell

TBH is is not those bits, it the shoes, coats, car tax, services, Pressies and stuff like that and also paying the credit card debt.

I guess we will ask people to get the boys amazon vouchers for christmas and they can get books etc.

grouchyoscar Fri 09-Oct-09 16:07:54

Tea we cancelled Sky and haven't missed it at all. In the end we consolidated our debts with a secured loan with the building society. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel now

TeaMonster Fri 09-Oct-09 16:54:01

Groucy - That is what we are haping we can do. They have said no to mortgage holiday or further advance due to the drop in house prices sad We will find out on Tuesday

RubysReturn Fri 09-Oct-09 17:24:13

Hi all
don't even think of leaving us Monstershock. You are our revered leader!

Sounds like you are doing all the sensible things - when we were unwaged, we actually cashed in an endowment. I think it had performed so poorly, it was enough to tide us over, but would never have been enough to pay mortgage. Then we started again. Just a thought, in case you have one knocking around you have overlooked!

Tort - love the costumes, lol at Mickey

Am shattered. Working every day has taken it out of me. Not really flying atm, but hope to get a bit organised doing something each day. This week have had four nights out for meetings etc, so hope next week will be better!

Have done some more moulding of pinatas for birthdays (3 in a week!) and made some candles, inspired by a Mnetter. If anyone wants to declutter teacups and saucers - I'll happily pay postage and packinggrin.
