warm water and tiny bit of softner (for the smell), rubbed down with old soft tea towel and 'bits' started coming off it?..they were red, but not sure if just muck (although i wipe it down regulary, havent 'cleaned' it properly in ages and im a chidminder so had got bad enough to need to do!)...to me it looked like muck but red?..but could it be the top coating off the leather???...i quickly rinsed and then discovered proper leather sofa cleaner under sink and used that, but same effect???...rinsed again and tried to 'buff' all the crumby bits off with soft cloth which got messy!....
it does look cleaner but slightly duller..not sure if it was more dull or shiny when we got it so no idea if this is ok????...if it is top coating, can i replace with some sort of leather wax or something relativly cheaply..TIA

no, but that IS what it kind of looks like, as if muck(im not THAT manky honest LOL) or a seal is crumbling when i wiped it?

my chair has like a peeling layer on it,the leather still looks nice underneath, thats why i thought it was the stain guard,

i wonder if there was some on before we bought it (new)??..they asked if i wanted protection on it and i said no, so maybe its a standard protection??? can you get something to re-new it, like a cream to seal again?
