quick help - will malt vinegar clean the dishwasher or does it have to be white?

I'm just about to run it empty to clean through (as advised by my mother!) - but have no white vinegar... can I do it with malt?

If no-one's around to answer then I'm going to do it anyway, I'm sure it can't really make much difference, can it...?!

I used Malt seemed to do the trick in both washing machine and dishwasher.

Oh, I've just tried this (with white vinegar admittedly, but I"m sure it's all the same) on my washing machine, didn't realise you could do it for dishwasher too, brilliant!

OK, so where do you get your white vinegar? Can't find any at our local [big] Sainsbury's, the staff always direct me to either malt or wine vinegar and I cannot seem to find any in the cleaning aisle either.

lol - not sure!! I think I bought some once before, but I have no idea where, maybe it was from a hardware shop, but I really don't know.

Anyway, the malt vinegar worked perfectly on the dishwasher, and has saved me having to get down on my knees and scoop the crap out of the filter, which was the entire purpose of the exercise

whwre do you put the vinegar? sorry if that's a really stupid question.

I use sarsons distilled vinegar (its clear) I get it from Sainsburys but I'm sure I've seen it in tescos.

I just emptied a bottle of malt vinegar into the main part of the machine then ran it on an economy cycle. I'm the wrong person to answer though, I really don't know what I'm doing, I'm not a very polished housewife!!! But it did seem to work
