I'm back

I am a very happy Mad, as I have a nice new keyboard on my laptop that works -yippee. All for the nice cost of 11

I have been admisterin to a poorly fingure - isnt is amazing how children suffer broken collar bones etc with no much winging, but a tiny red scratch causes mayhem.

Morning routines all done
Class photo at school today

Shopping with mum

Morning ALL TM thanks for thread-hope poor finger is better soon. Will attempt to complete mission today.

Morning Simply

Have had horrible night with Ellie, she has snotty nose was pumping & burping a lot. Very red cheeks. Just spoken to my mum the twins are poorly too-she said they had been pumping & burping too!crying, hot, snot. must be a bug. I thought it was because I had given Ellie Lactalose at tea time as she has never had before.

So lots of snuggling here today me thinks. Have a good day all.

I'm back too!

Done:-
~ let cat out for a wander and then had to go and find her in my pjs and d gown as she'd gone out of sight! Found her walking up to next door's front door!
~ pegged out 1 load of washing
~ helped ds and dd with making their lunch
~ unloaded and reloaded d/w
~ put the bin out and did some recycling

To do:-
~ finish the ironing
~ tidy up the living room ready for visitor this afternoon
~ walk the dog - we went around a local village last night to while away the time whilst dd did football training
~ do the washing up
~ make a cake - the last one tasted nice but I'd taken it out about 5 mins too soon and had to put the tins back in!

Back later!

Simply - new cat? or just a precious one? We have lots of visting felines trying their luck at breakfast time

Going to have to run to work now - painter is soo chatty (and lovely to chat to) that I think I need to leave house or neither of us will get anything done.

Ds1 has gone back to school today - his friends all made a lovely card for him, but were a bit miffed that he hadn't actually HAD an operation.

Hello!

I rushed so much yesterday I didn't even get back on here to show off list tasks done:

-did my flute practice, hooray!
-DS seems to be progressing with his getting dressed/undressed practice
-did some 'work' on getting DS to hold pen properly and draw round star and pig templates
-read through what the kids are doing this term at school and thought I really MUST do more with them at home to support what they are doing at school as I realised I do very little at the moment! I blame the fact that I think I was depressed for about 2 years, even parts of that time when I thought I wasn't too bad, I feel SO happy now and feel like I WANT to do things with the children etc that in comparison I can see that I was not well back then.
-made potato, tomato and cheese ommelate for me and DS and did some intensive 'how to use cutlery properly' teaching ready for when he has school dinners next week!
-dishwasher
-one load of laundry
-iron DH shirt
-clean kitchen and bathroom floors
-take children to playdate/mothers' meeting
-babysit there while one of the others had to go to a school meeting
-go to flute choir, hooray!
-cook salmon and rice for me and DH

I forgot to have a shower yesterday though! I feel very smelly so will have one in a minute.

I've decided to help at DS's old playgroup while he is in Year R, then when he is in Y1, see if the school will let me help in YR. I don't want to do it yet because DS is quite a 'Mummy's Boy' and I don't want my presence in the school to encourage him to be like this until he has fully settled in to school. They are going to have 'Maths Hour' in his class though where parents can come in and do number games with them once a week so I'll go to that and see what it's like. Thank you for advice MakingChanges and Scatty.

Happy Birthday for yesterday MakingChanges! Jas, you ARE allowed to have more than one day 'off' you know when you are going through so much, so carry on being easy on yourself and just do the minimum work necessary! Unless doing housework helps you to feel better?

Swan, LOL @ your DS1 being "horrified" at the facts of life How do you decide what age to talk to them about it?

EHM, hope your Ellie is better soon!

Teamonster, Congratulations on new keyboard! It must feel like a luxury after battling along with a crappy one for ages!

DylsMum, Glad you like your new job - what is it? I hate starting new things even if I know I'm going to like it eventually!

I'm so tired today - but then I often say that in the mornings and think 'I can't do it today' but as I get my reptile flesh warmed up I get more and more active, I just have to give myself time. I can't list what I've got to do because it will look 'painful', so I'll just list it when I've done it (is this cheating?).

A quick post.

Whiffy Houses - Yes, I know no-one is called this! I just heard the trailer for "Homes under the hammer" and thought I heard them mention whiffy houses and remembered that someone on here (EHM?) was talking about this the other day. Might be worth watching.

ActingNormal Re: your last paragraph, use this thread however suits you!

As for cutlery, I found IKEA cutlery useful for when my kids were in that in between stage so too big for kiddies cutlery and too small for adult cutlery. I've just looked for it on the Ikea site and can't spot it in order to put a link, sorry.

dylsmum Sorry to hear you had a tough drop-off. I hope your dd has a good day.

Revised done list:-
~ tidied the kitchen
~ washed up and put it away
~ put a summer duvet in the w/m - bit of a squash - whoops!

To do:-
~ finish the ironing
~ tidy up the living room
~ walk the dog
~ make a cake

EHM poor ellie, hope she is better soon

jas How did you get the job of organising the funeral? (or should I not ask).

swanriver Sorry, I didn't answer your question earlier. No, she's not a new cat. She is a house cat who isn't injected against nasties so she can only go outside under supervision. Unfortunately, my dog wanted to greet people coming downstairs rather than do her duty supervising the cat so it all went a bit awry! >

I got interrupted typing that by a phone call. Hope I haven't coss posted with anyone. Just having a cup of tea and then I'm going to do a bit more before lunch. Back later!

Done
Library work (sneaked a look at polygons - oh dear even more complicated than I thought - very little maths has permeated my soul. An EXCELLENT book by Carol Vorderman called Essential Mathematics or something like that TM, designed for 8-10 year olds so just right for me!)

Filed today's paperwork
breakfast cleared

Now back to shelf sorting again at school. Parents are complaining selected books are a)too pink, b)too hard, c)too heavy so having to don a bit of armour plating this term

Simply
& your dog is clearly Gromitlike in range of his abilities

afternoon all

Feeling bleugh today.
Totally devoid of any energy or enthusiasm...

mornings before school still seem to be total chaos....what on earth has happened over the summer - they never used to be this bad??/
DS1 almost overslept as I sort of forgot about him morning chaos and only realised at 7.15 that he hadnt appeared for breakfast yet - and he has to leave house at 7.30 for the bus LOL Yelled franticaly up the stairs - he managed to get ready and breakfasted and out in 15 mins - miracle! When he came down I snapped at him, "come on, what were you doing" to which he replied "sleeping, obviously " LOL Bless him he is so tired form his new regime!
Rest of mroning similar frantic muddle.
All seems very overwhelming somehow...

Then Welcom Mass at school , so didnt get home till 10.30....
finished stuff I didnt get done earlier....walked doggy
Nursery drop off...

Now sitting wasting endless hours on internet as I cant summon the motivation to do any of the millions of things I need to get done...

DD3 also not very happy at the moment. Says she hates school She is really struggling to adapt to being in yr 1. She has wet herself twice yesterday evening and this morning, and woke up crying at 2.30 am.... she is a worry...

Ds2 also teething and in generally foul mood. Also seems to have developed an agressive streak - continuously hitting and hair pulling, me and his sisters...need to work on this with him....

right off to make another cuppa and wllow in self pitty for a bit...oh and it is grey and cold here ...I want some sun!

I'm blimmin, BLIMMIN useless today! All I've done is have a shower and burn some fish fingers! hahahaha!

Simply, lots of people think 'ordinary' means crap! But I think ordinary is good! I always wanted to be normal and felt less than normal for a long time. Now I have contentment [smug grin]. I don't feel I need to achieve something extraordinarily mega in order to be happy (although achieving a cleaner house would be good .

Lol @ my favourite thing being 3 letters long. "Pizza, lager and tv" don't have 3 letters though!

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 17/09/2009 14:03

Ah, now, you see I got told when I changed my name from (made up example) FrederickTheGoldfish to JustFrederick that I wasn't to call myself "Just" anything as I'm much more than that. That's before I started using Simply in my name.

I agree that ordinary is fine, it just has that sense of .... nothing specialness about it. Like in work when people get a "Good performer" mark. It sounds a bit like satisfactory. Not an uplifting word. Does that make any sense?

@ pizza, lager and tv not having 3 letters!

swanriver My dog is a sheepdog and she lives up to the obsessive, neurotic tendancies you can get in that breed. As long as she isn't distracted by not having seen family members for a whole 8 hours, she normally stalks the cat with her 100% attention, knowing that the cat isn't allowed to go far or next door.

HI all

Shopping was truly awful.

DS2 was leaning into the trolley to get some fruit loaf and it tipped on top of him . He is OK, but I was left shaking and crying. He went blue and passed out from breath withholding and then screammed the store down. Thankfully the only damage was to his pride. He has a sore and bruised leg too.

He has had lots of treats and cuddles since we got back and I have only just managed to get the shopping away.

Never, ever put 20 pints of milk on one side of a shallow trolley. I feel like a super bad mum.

Oh TM that sounds truly stressful Trust me you are a wonderful mum, not super bad at all. These things happen.... remeber the time my DS2 FELL OUT of the trolley(whilst strapped in?!) whe he was 10 months old? I felt like the worlds worst mum ....but he was fine and you move on! Glad he wasnt too badly hurt - lots of cuddles will do the trick

ordinarySAHM being "ordinary " is my ambition in life too lol Sometimes our family life is so hectic and chaotic I have been known to mutter things like I just want to be an ORDINARY family LOL
Not sure I'll ever make it that far though. Well done on reaching ordinary contentment!

simply your dog sounds fab!I think I could do with a dog like that to "stalk" DS2 and stop him getting up to mischief.... do you hire her out LOL

Well afternoon not progressed much.
Am still sitting on sofa, with doggy curled up asleep next to me....have been researching children's dentists and dog food - otherwise known as wasting time on the internet to avoid all other more pressing yet less appealing tasks....

now off for school pick up...dineer not sorted to chaos will follow....oh need to get motivated....why is it so cold today....

Galen: sympathy - what a horrid start to year -
We had a meltdown after Brownies yest, which made me feel very badtempered and sort of angry that she had to have this stress in her life whilst feeling I couldn't do anything about it except NOT send her to Brownies iyswim [tense negative thoughts whirling round one's head emoticon}
my problem today has been is cashflow crisis requiring lots of phone calls but hopefully will be sorted on Friday
TM - cuddles for both of you
Dylsmum - glad new placement is good

Done

More school library sorting
Painter nearly finished Ds1's room - white with oxblood red shelves looks great!
Supper is broccoli anchovy pasta for us and fishfingers for kids

Now need to press on with THREE lots of homework no lols there
