I am now going to reveal myself as a total slattern and am a bit

My back room is a bit of a dumping ground at the moment, In a corner there are a few bags of things I need to sort out.

Anyway, somehow (goodness knows how it got there) in the corner with the other bags, was a carrier bag with a pint of milk in it. I don't know how long it was there, but I am guessing effing ages.

Anyway, yesterday I noticed a really wierd smell in the room. Couldn't work out what it was.

Last night I tracked down the source and discovered the milk in the bag. Basically the milk had split into the more solid stuff and the runny stuff, as it does - the runny stuff is no longer in the carton, but the solid stuff is. the carton seems to be leaking, but the carpet is dry and all the bags around the bag with the milk reek so I've had to chuck loads of stuff out. The carpet stinks. I don't know how far this stuff spread I am having images of it leaking into and below the floorboards and feel a bit freaked out (I have OCD which doesn't help)

Anyway, I chucked away what I could from that corner, sponged that area of carpet with dettol and smothered it all in bicarb which is still on it.

The window is open. I'm planning on hoovering the bicarb and putting more down.

Is there anything else I can do? Is the air going to be full of nasty harmful bacteria? My imagination is going into overdrive (OCD problem again)

The room smells like a hamster's cage right now

What about that solid deoderising air freshener, I can't remember the name of it but it's blue and, strangely enough we used it next to our stinky hamster's cage. The container is mushroom shaped - or at least it was in Thailand. Good luck, I'm glad it's not just me - you try getting the stench of a chicken out of a family car after it's been in there for about four days.

Ooh, that sounds pretty horrid!!

Thanks for that, I'll look into the air freshener. Any other ideas welcome as well :-)
