I have open plan and roomba

it is more efficient if you get it to do one section at a time and you can shut it out of areas using the lighthouse thingys

I am not that enamoured by mine.

Wish I had just bought a new hoover it's much quicker.

My dp not keen either I have used our miele for too many renovations and it along with a dyson are both knackered.I thought this may be my prayers answered but not sounding hopeful.Also have 2 long haired cats so may not be powerful enough

I have one - I have programmed it to clean the lounge while DD is at nursery 3 times a week - Its great to come back to a clean house and that all the bits of paper / play dough etc are cleaned up.

I have mine living in the living room (but have to remember to pick up all the bits if I programme him or else he gets stuck) when I want another room doing I just pick him up and pop him in there. I think its great, however sometimes I have to use the big hoover on more messy areas. That said, probably only once or twice in the last 6 months or so.

We have one. It lives in the shed. I took it out and cleaned it up a few weeks ago and set it loose.

It's back in the shed.

Don't use it if you want it done quickly. Use it if you like sprawling on the sofa while someone else does the housework. I LOVE mine and I love his little noises

I keep looking at these. I want to programme it to do a floor at a time whilst I am out at work.

One of DD's firends hve one of these and they really like theirs.

They're a great quick fix but will never replace proper vacuuming. I use mine for a day to day pick up of dog hair on the hard floors downstairs. Was hoping when I bought it that I would never have to get the Miele out ever again but alas not so.

If it's to be your only vacuum then I'd say no.

I have a basic one, and I let it loose whilst I get on with other things. Can't have it on while out in case it sets off the burglar alarm. I love it. It does a good job. Just have to do the edges of the room with the normal hoover occasionally.

A new miele it is!I don't want to have to have another hoover tbh.If i could afford it I would but am only buying one!I have a little hand held dyson aswell so that will be it.

Ourlady, I use it on an uneven stone floor in the utility room where the dogs' beds are and have to say it is fine. Sometimes stops and whinges about needing it's brushes cleaned but otherwise ok.

Noddy, yep agree if it's to be the only vacuum I'd go for a Miele Cat and Dog if I were you.

I have been thinking of getting one of these. I have a flat (no stairs) with laminate floors throughout. I am a bit obsessive about the floors, and don't like any crumbs, hairs (human - no pets) etc on it. So I end up hoovering every other day and mopping at least twice a week. WOuld the roomba work for the day to day stuff (particularly crums in the living/dining room) and I can just hoover/mop at the weekend?

IlanaK, Roomba should be fine for that. As long as you are not too obsessive......

I use it as a back up for dog hairs and bits. Two Labs that seem to leave more hair on the floor than they have on their whole bodies.

I have a cat and dog atm and it has been brilliant just got trashed by builders but agree they are best!I love the roomba though

Ok, I just got dh to agree to buy me one for christmas. I think I only need the basic (not the very basic, but the next one up - £299) that returns to its charging place. Do any of you have that one, or do you have the more expensive ones?

it is fine

one year on i still love roomba but he does drive me nuts

flicks bits about a lot before picking up
i love them in bedrooms as they go under all furniture beds etc

I've got the 560 which can be programmed but tbh after we had a few power cuts I couldn't be bothered to keep re-setting so just put it on as needed. It does go back to base unit when finished.

Agree, it is a helper.
