what time do your dustmen come to collect rubbish? What time are they *allowed* to come?

Our dustmen seem to be coming earlier and earlier and we are always woken by them. We live on a corner and they reverse down the side road with their bleeper sounding. Loudly. Even in the winter if our windows are all shut we are still woken by them, as are our neighbours.
is there a time restriction does anyone know?

Ours start coming at about 7.30. We have 4 bins that get collected by different lorries. The re-cycling bins are all collected by 9am, the non-recycling usually goes by lunchtime.

Not sure of any restrictions tbh. I would imagine around 7am is the earliest though.

I'm not sure there are any restrictions. We used to have them waking us at 6ish. When I complained to the council they said that they had recently been moved onto that routine (Presumably because other streets had complained!) The guy said I would get used to it!!!

Maybe if enough of you complain you can shift it to be someone else's problem!

Well, we have to have our rubbish out for 7 am, so I presume they can't come earlier than that.
Today they actually collected it at 3pm, normally about midday

thanks guys.

I might have a chat with some of my neighbours and see if anyone else wants to write with me and ask for a change in route to let us have our sleep . Hope it doesn't backfire though and they come even earlier

Our change routines regularly - and it also depends whether it just a bin week or a bin and recycling week! We are told to put our rubish out for 7am - however I have been woken on several occassions at 5.45am I really don't want that route again for a while!

Ours have a cunning system, just when you get used to them coming really late, they suddenly swap to really early (like 6 am) This means they get round super fast, as you get out of the habit of putting them out the night before.

I used to wokrk for a council and refuse collections started at 6am all bins had to be out before then as rounds started as early as that - also the council can change round times at their discretion.

why is it that the dustmen can come and empty the bins at 6 45am and make a loud noise and nothing is done about it. im sure they dont have to start that early most of them are home early afternoon doesnt make sense. if it was a road digger they wouldnt be allowed to start that early so come on lets get it fixed

Ours have to be out by 6. They usually come onto my street about 7ish.

somebody has to be early, especially in the gridlocked areas. I did hear of a place where the residents managed to get the reversing alarm turned off. The truck is big, has flashing lights and is quite noisy anyway, so you would hope anyone nearby would know that it is reversing.

Ours have to be out by 6am. Recycling is picked up about 6.15, wheelie bins not till mid afternoon. Always wakes me up as they stop right under my window and start clinging glass jars together.

We have to have our bin out by 7am and it's generally collected by 8.30am so the bin collection doesn't wake me up but our birdbrain next door neighbour who insists on putting his bin out at 1am does!

Saturday lunchtime for us! Although last 2 collections were Sunday lunchtime, they were obviously running a bit late Grin

6:30... I wouldn't complain at all. I'm glad they still come weekly to take it.

Ours used to come at 5.15am and wake us up with reversing noises and shouting. The council was adamant that they did not come before 6am as that was the earliest they were allowed to come. We had four years of it but have now gone to fortnightly collections and in the rearranging we are now done at about 9am.
Good luck with trying to get it sorted - it really played havoc with our sleeping and the council were like a brass wall on the subject.

Phoning the council about the dustmen. 5.30am they come. Woke myself, fiance and our 4yr old daughter. Nobody round here bothers to complain about anything except 1 neighbour. They let the gate to our carpark swing open. Reverse in with lights flashing. They don't have that annoying beeping when reversing. Think my neighbour must of complained. They have stopped shouting to each other across the carpark after my fiance hurled abuse at them out the window. Which i don't condone. If they say that they don't come that early i will take photos as proof.

Our council tell us to have bins out by 7am, so I guess they wouldn't turn up earlier than that. Typically our bins are collected between 8 - 9 am.

Either at c. 07.30 or at c. 13.45. (I suspect that we're on the cusp of them having to go back to the depot to unload the lorry so our timing depends on whether there's been a lot of rubbish earlier in the route.)

Report
Tarzanlovesgaby · 09/10/2015 13:21

they come at 6:30 here.
3 of them in a convoy (3 different bins) blocking the road.
triple glazing keeps the noise bearable.

every week 6.15 am

i think the busy roads get the early round as not to be caught up in peak traffic and causing a tale back
