My sofa smells of wee help!

DD had a little accident whilst asleep on my sofa and now I can't get rid of the smell, it is awful. I disinfected it with zoflora when it happened, I've febreezed it, ousted it, disinfected it again, tried upholstery shampoo, but it still smells! Can anyone help because I really don't want to buy a new sofa!

Zoflora is lovely but it won't help in this case. Do you have a steam cleaner or can you borrow one, this is the only thing I found that drove out the widdle smell (in our case from an elderly incontinent cat).

I had some stuff called Home Help, which is a pet disinfectant that was quite good at getting rid of the cat wee smell from out carpet

Thank you for your replies, will hunt out a steam cleaner and try the pet disinfectant. I hope it goes!

Nightshoe - I do feel for you - DD widdled on the sofa only today - luckily I was fairly quick with the soapy cloth and it doesn't smell at all!

Thats the thing I don't understand whomovedmychocolate, she has weed on the sofa before more than once when potty training (we had a bit of a battle!) and I did exactly the same thing as I always do, soapy cloth and then some zoflora and it had never smelled. She must have eaten or drunk something particularly potent this time

Asparagus, onions, garlic, cheese and fennel all make your wee smell stronger. Or if she had a urine infection that would also do it. Was she a bit under the weather at the time. In any case, you should be able to blitz it with a steamer as it will sterilise the area and any residual bacteria won't have a chance.
