In despair over tidying kids' rooms....

A wet day, so I thought I'd try to tackle the kids' bedrooms

After about 30 mins I am IN DESPAIR...

I just can't see what to do with everything!
DS2 has so many lego models which he doesn't want to break up, but we don't have space to 'display' (so they're strewn all over his bedroom floor)

Also so many homemade models/ pictures/ 'special' rocks etc etc - none of which he wants to throw out/ put anywhere except his windowsill...

How on earth do you ever clear the clutter in kids' rooms?

i used to have the lego model problem when i was a kid!

my mum resorted to taking a photo of the model, then insisting that it got broken up and the pieces put in the lego box.
that way, it can be made again, but if it can't, you've still got the evidence.

I have just spent over an hour doing DD's room.

Do you have any shoe boxes he can put stuff in? It can then go under the bed.

I have just bagged up loads of old clothes to go in the loft which has made space in one of the chests of drawers so i can now put toys/books/crayons etc in. DD is not even 2 yet though, so she can't really argue

As for the pictures/anything flat, how about a big pin board? I had one covering nearly a whole wall when i was younger.

That's a good idea to take photos of the lego creations. I might just do that. They are EVERYWHERE, except the bathroom
