Why do I keep finding small holes in all my clothes???

For the past few months I keep finding very small holes in a lot of my tops and I can only assume that it's the washing machine. It's not that old about 18 months.

Why is it doing it? Anyone else had this problem??

I have this - its always on tops though on the arm or tummy bit...exactly the areas where my bunny wabbits claws dig in when he jumps off me. Any cats? rabbits?

our old washing machine used to do this - was an Indesit one I think

Wouldn't I notice if had moths?

I do have cats but this is a relatively recent problem and my cats are anti social and we don't see them much!

It is always at the front tummy area?
Do you wear a belt?

You can have moths and not notice for months.

I was told it's caused by the high spin speed on my washing machine (up to 1600) and it seems to have stopped happening since turning the spin speed down to around 1200.

Front tummy, just above 'belt' area even if you don't wear a belt. I get this too. I have no tops with thinner fabric without them.
I have concluded it comes from rubbing on the button area of my jeans.

You're probably overloeading your machine.

i have front tummy area holes and agree that it is rubbing against buttonage..

You get it from an overloaded machine being on too high a spin setting. it means that the fabric is forced through the little holes.

Don't overload so much, and try a lower spin.

Hmmm I think it could be the spin speed I use 1600 and I am guilty of over loading.

Although how do I check for moths and get rid of them if that is the cause?
