Morning Swan and Wolf.
I was going to start thread but started one about DS2 walking to school alone.

DD1 is OK in herself but has one very red swollen eye. Other one is a little gunky.

DD2 has been sick only once more since last night and that was 8am so isn't too bad. Keeps asking for food!

Can i just add R.I.P Michael Jackson. Didn't want to post on the thread i saw on MN because of some vile comments on it. I love MJ's music and feel very sad for his children and family.

I am tired but need to get some house work done!

Sorry to hijack the thread but I wanted to ask if you find the fly lady thing helpful. I am desperate to get on top of my house but I don't know where to start. when I looked at the site it all seemed very complicated.
Does it work? Can I really get my house clean and tidy?
Thanks.

tort its scary when they first go alone, my ds has started to this half term (he is 10) and is about a mile to his school too.
he loves taking himself now, although he is on bike not foot. do the minimum housework and get some rest today.

have finished my list this morning (apart from the go to town bit). and have also put clean sheets on ds bed and hoovered and dusted ready for his return. i do hope he has had a good week. i have a surprise for him at the weekend not going to tell him until we get there, but he normally guesses what we are doing before we get where we going. we are off to chessington fo rthe day on sun with my family. dd is at her dads this weekend and have arranged for him to have her a bit later than he normally does so that we dont have to rush back.

whyme i do find the flylady works for me, it gives me a focus on each days work to do.
the idea is you start smal and follow the babysteps and set up a daily routine before moving onto the missions, i'd say it definately worth a try, not sure if i FLY completely correctly (i dont wear shoes in the house, i don't have a written control journal, and i dont have the emails). but my flat is definately under control since i started flying

Mooorning all! Thanks for the thread. It is the most superior flylady thread today swan.

And thanks for the links dyl. Not looking at them though because don't want to do any housework lol

tort How exciting about the email! Hope the dds recover soon.

whyme please join us! We take the terror out of housework! Flying does work, especially if you start small and build up. Start with the babysteps which help you to gradually organise and declutter. Once you have done that it is so much easier to clean and keep on top of things.

Flylady works on a different zone of the house each week i.e. this week it is the Master Bedroom. Each day she gives 'missions' which are small, 15 minutes jobs aimed to keep that zone decluttered, clean and organised. Every now and again you can follow the 'detailed cleaning' list, which really gives a room a complete overhaul. (I don't do this too often tbh ). But overall the main aim is to spend small amounts of time each day just keeping things organised and ticking over.

Jump in and give it a try!

Had a lurverly day at the beach yest and had it to ourselves - bonus!

Off shopping with the dds today (sulk). My most hated thing ever. Especially on a sunny day (double sulk).

Off to tidy the kitchen before we go. xx

I just want to feel in control really rather than running to keep up IYSWIM. It has taken me all week to change everyone's bedding adn get it washed and dry and I still don't stop til 10pm some nights.
I have no routines at all.

whyme - I fnd too it difficult to stick to routines but have made the most basic ones, just tidying kitchen doing laundry and s & s loos what's for dinner STICK for now.
home bleuring I also find takes all week, despite being mostly SAHM with allkds in school - (eg: don't think it is really possible to wash all five sets of sheets AND change beds in one day unless one is very muscular but that's my opinion)

afternoon all

swan thanks for thread.

gibb glad you had a nice day yesterday...hope shopping goes OK

whyme2 welcome! FLYing definately helps to get things under controll. I dont do it all properly either TBH. I do stick to basic routines I've developed, try to do my own version of house bleurgh on a MON...but still have other stuff needs doing through the week....also stagger bed changes etc...
I havent been good at getting the zone cleans done recently either, but I do have 6 DC and a lot of stuff going on at the momnet! my house isnt pristine by any stretch of imagination but it is not bad, much better than it used to be!
This thread is great for support to!
everyone-else Hi

DH Had a phonecall last night to sday that his Dad was going down hill, and the hospice nurses think he may be into his final weeks.DH is going to Ireland on Mon for a few days to see him. Feeling quite sad about it all....cant believe it really, hes only 64, and hadnt even retired yet. Seems so unfair.

Anyway trying to be organised today in preparation for more solo flying next week!
Have been shopping this morning and stocked up on essential survival items such as fish fingers, oven chips and ice cream...it's going to be one of those weeks again!
Have also rung homeswerve about boiler...hopefully someone coming out to fix it tomorrow.....( I REAALY need a shower LOL may have to go have a cold one!

Need to do some washing sorting and bedroom tidying still.
Floors need mopping, but will have to wait till I have hot water I think....(good excuse realy!)

Dh now home as has been given the fatenoon off work because of his dad.. which is nice.

right must go be useful.....

Feel so sorry for your dh, Galen - my Dad is so full of life still and he's 75 - can't imagine life without him.
You are heroine to do solo flying again, Isuppose at least the children are an antidote to difficult times.

What a nightmare about water, hope it gets hot enough to have a cold shower if that's the onlysolution.

Hello to all and especially whyme2.

Sorry to hear that your dh's Dad is very unwell galen.

To do list:-

~ order bed and mattress
~ order new bed linen
~ start decluttering the bits and pieces in the spare bedroom so we can get at the furniture we need to move back into our bedroom.
~ pull finger out re: campsites abroad as the hol will be here soon and we've not booked anything much as yet.
~ ring dsis (plural) re: furniture
~ ring lady re: piano
~ ring local furniture recycling place
~ ring to check re: file collection from office

I was feeling really tired this morning so thought I'd have a nap before my shower and woke up about 2 1/2 hours later! I do feel a lot more human now but I need to catch up with my list.

Done:-
~ fed, showered and dressed
~ I've started moving some stuff back into our bedroom
~ I found the key for my medicine box!
~ Two loads of washing

I'm glad I cut the grass (with the dog's help, of course!) yesterday as it's now pouring with rain.

Hello to one and all.
galen Sorry to here your news.
whyme2 I'm not a kosher flyer even though I've got the book. I think making a list in the morning and ticking my way through it makes me feel I'm in a competition with myself and keeps housework entertaining. Sharing bits & pieces with everyone else, strangely, will remind you to do important tasks like get the car taxed!
Well, I'm home & I've passed my course
Washing on the line, I put in W/M this morning (cross fingers about the weather) Going to make the beds & fold clothes. Put post-it around the house for DH, as I'm going out to visit a friend.
