Does anyone do this? I was thinking perhaps 3 times a year, at the beginning of each school holidays. If you do, how much does it cost you? I am interested to know how much is the going rate. Thanks.

totalconfusion A cleaner I've used before does this but it's for an empty house i.e. at the beginning or end of a tenancy or when you've just bought or sold a house and it is empty. It costs £50. The one-off cleans start at £35.

Thanks for so many replies. My friend has this done where a local company come in and there are 3-4 women. Costs her £100 but she thinks is worth every penny. I have never had anyone come in and clean my house so have no idea what to expect or indeed what to ask them to do! The house is far from sparkling clean, but I think I could do with a helping hand as I am not keeping on top of things.

Most cleaning companies advertise 'Spring Cleans' in their leaflets round here...I am seriously considering it! I imagine it would be a pain to clean around stuff though, I think I need decluttering mainly

Thanks for this thread, btw. It's prompted me to get back in touch with my last cleaner and book weekly cleans once again. She was great but the one I had before her wasn't. You can say that you'd like to have a one-off clean or only for a month and then extend it if you're really happy with the price and the cleaning.

I'm considering this, having just had the builders in. Am sick to death of damp-dusting, followed by normal dusting. Just wondering if anywhere does someone who'd come along, like TOMORROW. No good at planning ahead....

Top tip. Make a list of everything you want them to do. Don't just say clean the bathroom as that is all my first lot did. The sink, bath and loo. Only when I specified that on top of the sink, bath and loo I wanted the blind, floor, shelf, cabinet, mirror, tiles and towel rail done did they do it!
