Hi all,

I'm new to this thread, but am pretty desperate, and would really appreciate any tips/ideas...

Basically, I'm 28 weeks pregnant and in a baby brained stupour managed to drop the iron onto my landlord's carpet, leaving a nice iron sized melted patch blush.

I'm about to move out, and have used the £400 deposit as my last month's rent, and have used what would have been July's rent to pay for the new place. There is some unused carpet, and DP has suggested cutting the iron hole out and replacing it with a bit of the unused carpet.

Does anyone have any tips aadvice on what we can do to hide the patch???

TIA xxxx

You poor soul! I have tried this and it works. Make sure the pile is lying the same way. Good luck.

That is what we had to do this when our tenants did the same . Trouble is if the carpet has worn or faded at all it is noticeable, sorry.

I'm sorry but as a landlord I'd want to know, I would not be happy if my tennants left and did not say.

I'm not sure what your landlord is like, obviously, but I'd like to think if it was me I would realise that it was an accident. I would then claim it on my house insurance, that's what it's there for.

Ours wasn't covered by landlord insurance and excess on contents policy was simialr to a professional repair cost.
