ds's trainers get really dirty, sick of them never being clean

Wow, Tamarto, can you tell us what that program actually does? I mean what temperature, how much time, etc...Maybe we could just chose a similar program on our machines and that would do the job. It would be great.

I washed my running shoes in the machine and they came up very well. I Did them at 40 deg iirc. They clonked about a bit but it was ok.

I was told not to wash them too much though as it's not too good for the stitching etc.
But I'd trodden in something nasty so there wasn't much choice

Don't put them in the airing cupboard though to dry. Just stuff them with newspaper and let them dry out slowly. You might have to change the paper a couple of times as it absorbs the moisture.

A word of warning, washing trainers that are not labelled washable will mean you can't return them for any reason and it is likely to weaken the stitching.
When I worked in a sports shop I was in charge of faulty goods, I was told to sniff all faulty trainers before giving a refund to see if they'd been ruined in the wash!

Check your manual - if lost, most companies have them on their website.
Having said which, I do wash them in a laundry bag, 2 pairs, on a delicate cycle & dry them using lots of newspaper stuffed inside, changing it frequently till newspaper comes out dry.

I wash trainers all the time in the washer. I shove them in with a normal load of coloureds on 40 cottons, they come up lovely. I brush them down and use the prewash option though to get rid of any nastiness.
I wouldn't recommend putting them in the wash on their own, it can damage the machine. The clothes stop the trainers from banging around in the drum too much.
