I need help.

DH has got curry down his best Gant shirt.

I have tried vanish but it will not shift.

Any ideas please? hmm

Stain Devils no.3 'Curry and Sauce'. Haven't tried that particular one, but have had success with some of the others for other stains.

What temperature did you wash the shirt at?

Did you use the Vanish you put in the machine or the Vanish you spray on?

I would have washed immediately at 60° on its own with Ariel liquitabs and a scoop of Vanish.

BonsoirAnna,

You sound very convinced that ariel and vanich will work. grin

I am sadly more experienced than I had ever anticipated in the science art of stain removal grin.

I suspect many MNers would have found a course on stain removal a more practical application of their schooling than, say, Latin? wink

MaggsS Wed 18-Mar-09 12:02:18

Spray on vanish with Ariel liquitab at 40. Still there sad

BonsoirAnna Wed 18-Mar-09 12:03:29

40° isn't hot enough. And a Gant cotton shirt will survive 60° with no problem at all.

Try it again with my recipe wink

Yes,

I agree, maybe stain removal should be incorporated into the chemistry curriculum? Might have actually remembered some of it then (Chemistry that is). I must say, I have found Latin tres useful as an adult (not).

BonsoirAnna Wed 18-Mar-09 12:05:39

I'm sure you could get more girls interested in Chemistry if it included stain removal, cooking, skin-care etc grin - actual practical application of chemistry to female reality...

BTW for curry stains, it is usually tumeric which causes the stain. Best cure for tumeric stains is sunlight, wash again, as per Anna's recipe, and hang out in direct sunlight, if it is sunny where you live. If you have enough sun it should magically 'bleach' out the tumeric stain.

MaggsS Wed 18-Mar-09 12:41:44

Is back in the washing machine as we speak.

As it is a lovely (but chilly)day I will line dry in the sun grin

MaggsS Wed 18-Mar-09 12:42:24

By the way don't tell DH I washed it a 60. He'll have a fit!!!!!!!!!!

BonsoirAnna Wed 18-Mar-09 12:43:25

LOL a fit because it is extravagant to wash at 60° or because he is worried about his clothes?

Amapoleon Wed 18-Mar-09 12:45:07

I use shout, spray on first and then wash a few times, repeating the process.

MaggsS Wed 18-Mar-09 13:01:46

Both but more worried about his shirt grin

Ivykaty44 Wed 18-Mar-09 13:03:27

Carpet stain remover smile follow instructions and then rinse on a cold or cool wash

mazzystartled Wed 18-Mar-09 13:03:55

hand shirt to dh
and supply with bib for future occasions

Ivykaty44 Wed 18-Mar-09 13:04:46

Food you must not cook the stain so use a cool wash, that goes for blood aswell as it is also counted as a food.

MaggsS Wed 18-Mar-09 13:16:56

LOL

Can't eat and hold beer bottle at the same time grin

SUnshine is the best...if really stubborn ive heard to rub lemon juice on it then put inthe sun. Ive never needed to though as the sun always works alone.

twostrokefour Wed 18-Mar-09 23:08:36

The sun is definately the best stain remover, it's brilliant too on poo stained baby clothes, similar colour to tumeric!

ninedragons Thu 19-Mar-09 07:29:34

Yep, strong sunlight.

Works on tupperware in which you have stored curry or anything with tumeric in.

Ruby01 Thu 19-Mar-09 11:36:14

agree sunlight best thing to get rid of curry stains
