how much do you pay for your water bill

I pay £55 per month... I've just taken over all the household bills and wondered if this was average?

also do you have a water meter? did you find it cheaper? its going to be me and 2 pre teens...

We pay about £90 a bill, think that's twice a year. That's for me, DH and 2 under 5. We have a water meter and we aren't especially frugal about water usage.

Friend changed to a meter last year and says it has saved them lots, but I think you need to be a little more cautious with usage until you get a feel for it, which is no bad thing.

No water meter.... and dont want one - certainly wouldnt be cheaper for us.

When the annual statement comes in we are never in the red with them.

We have a water meter - pay around £30 p.mth and that's for family of 4. Checked with our water co and our usage is below what an average family of just 3 would use, so am happy with that!

Will soon be a family of five so meter unlikely to be cheaper. Short of moving up north ( anywhere above Bristol I think) am stuck with this ridiculous amount

The rule of thumb is that if you have as many people as bedrooms or fewer people than bedrooms then you should get a meter.

I think water charges vary massively between areas. A lot of our charge is atually for taking away dirty water rather than supplying clean water.

£40 a month on a meter. 2 adults 1 child. I'm at home all day so more toilet flushing etc. We clean 2 cars with a hose each week (although the hose isn't left running) and have a power shower (which guzzles water - so is now restricted by me to half flow!) We probably have 4 short (ie less than 3 minute) showers each day. Dishwasher on once.
Washing machine on once!

Sorry - I got quite obsessive about this last year when my bill was larger than anyone elses - so had to analyse it!

mine is £42 per month! Help I'm in south west wales is this normal because my last last house was only £36 and it was significantly bigger ???
