Is it cheaper to keep the heating on low than to have it on a timer?

Have worked in a family that did this and the bill for heating on timer was much higher than the following years heating on all the time on low even with higher energy rates.

Yes, all day at only 15 degrees. I haven't had to boost it up for an hour yet, just put another jumper on!

CS because the house would stay a constant temp, you wouldn't need it on high much if at all.

Just turn up the rads a little higher in rooms you are in most. we find #3 is fine with a #2 in the day if sunny or we're out.

Ah, we have a combiboiler, so no hot water tank, it just heats water when the hot tap is turned on.

Having it 'ticking' over constantly isn't economical, like the kettles that keep the water ready for use, a waste of energy for most households compared to boiling the kettle as needed.

It depends on how cold your house gets / how hot you want or need it to be and how long it takes to go from one to the other, as we have insulated the rads - we only have 4 in the whole house - on low works but others might not find it so.

I do like it warm . Not sure I fancy experimenting with this - not until the oil tank has been filled anyway!

i was thinking bout doing this but will it still work even though my thermo is in the living room and the rdaiater in there always gets far hotter than other rooms. ive been led to believe this is cos its closst to the boiler!!! anyway, i find i have to turn heating up high to heat bathrooma but living room gets too hot therefore thermo turns heating off!!! so would keeping it on low constantly help??
