How easy it is to clean a pan after making sugar/water caramel?

Does it depend on the pan ie stainless steel/non-stick etc

Have always wanted to make tarte tatin but too scared to because of pan cleaning afterwards.

Starting to feel all domesticated hmm

I think pretty easy. Sugar is water soluble, so if you fill the pan with warm water it should just dissolve.

Ooh, it gives me hope. My Mum was never a baker of cakes or the like, she hates cooking so have never seen anyone do it.
