I have one of the really cheapo ones in the DSs' room and it's fine. But its loose cover is really annoying - won't stay in place, so it spends quite a lot of time draped in a throw. But pretty comfortable, and I've had it for about 8 years.
No, I haven't.
Got spare sofa bed and it's a bit shit but looks nice.
We had a fantastic leather sofa from Ikea, put up with being jumped on etc. Only got rid of it because wanted to change for a sofa bed.
naw. Have got an old put-U-up sofa which is very nice and has a horse hair mattress
I've got one that is on its last legs, but that is after over 10 very hard years wear. fabric on the arms has worn, rest of sofa is fine, and not saggy or baggy
It is a sofa bed and is good as both a sofa and a bed, IYSWIM
Not as much choice of covers/material as in other places IME, but much cheaper.
and thinking about getting another one
a good choice for a 'family' sofa that you will not go crackers over if the kids make a bit of a mess on it.
yes and it dips in the middle grrrrr
its shite, i tell you
I have the Ikea Ektorp sofa.
It's really nice (IMO!). Covers just zip off and go in wash in the event of an accident (or they babywipe nicely).
It's very comfortable and hard wearing. I've had it about 3.5 years and it looks fine.
Some of the ikea sofas do look crap so you just have to choose carefully.
Went to ikea yeasterday. Sat on most of the cheap ones and would say the're ok for a spare room but not as a main sofa. Not sure about the more expensive ones though.
Most of the cheap ones were really small, low down and quite hard.
We have 3. 2 Ektorps - I bought 2 diff colours of covers when we bought it so I could change the look of the room. One other corner/modular one down in the basement that my friend who lived in this house before us bought and then when she left I bought it off her. It had hard wear from her 3 for 18 months but hardly anything from us. They are all fine.
i have the ektorp one, it's great and you can buy new covers for it when you fancy a change
We have a leather one - is fine, comfortable, wearing well. Have only had it a couple of years, at most.
We have the Ikea Ektorp and we love it. Nice red corner sofa where the whole family can sit together.
We have the IKEA klippan. 'tis grand - and long enough to sleep on properly. Covers come off easily, and go back on easily. Can change for new colours without breaking the bank.
We have a two seater Ikea sofa that served in our sitting room in the last house for 5 years and is now in DS's bedroom and it's still comfy after 12 years, the fabric is a bit threadbare at the edges though.
We've got Ektorp sofas. They're fab. Covers wash well.
also have a 13 year old Ikea sofa which is absolutely filthy (bought before children, no washable covers!) but still comfy and works well as the playroom sofa covered with a throw.
We have two 2.5 seater lervik leather ones, they are lovely, nice soft leather and really sturdy, DS launches himslf on them constantly so they've had a good testing!
IMO considering the price they seem much better quality than DFS and similar.
We have an 8 year old IKEA sofa (huge - and not EKTORP) which has had loads of kids bouncing on it, cat sick etc, still going strong in the playroom. And we bought another couple, different style but again huge and not Ektorp, last summer for the sitting room and they are still fine. Covers come off easily but are dry clean only , luckily they seem to babywipe ok though.
I've had 2. First one was removable covers, but they discontinued the covers after we'd bought it, so when it tore (very quickly after we'd bought it) we were stuffed.
Now we've got some leather ones from there - so far so good.

It'ss be fine - get the extra covers when you buy it though.
Do you have a big posh house cod?
We have one which had 4 years use as a main sofa and is now in spare room as sofa bed. It has worn really well and comfy as an occasional bed.
we have an ektorp. DO NOT get a beige one
but otherwise v fab. easy to dismantle and reassemble if you want to move it around too
yes it's fine - I think you need to sit on them before you buy them though
