Morning Shanna Thanks for the thread.

DOnt worry about school - it is a new environenment, with new children and therefore, new bugs, which is why children always get sick at this time of the year. Look both Biancas DC's have been off too

I had a bad night too, DS1 wet the bed, as he was couging so much, so the washer is on and I need to dig out a clean set.

They are up and dressed and beakfast is cooling
Washer is on
DW is empties

We are waiting for the lady from homestart she is due at 9, then we are off to music class.

Also to do:

Mission
Hoover up and down
Mop downstairs
Ironing - again!
Check mum

Morning Shanara,Ruby,TMHandeveryone

Sorry to hear about your DD, mines just getting over her cold. Was also worried about her having time off playschool but feel a bit better reading TMH's post. Thanks!

House needs a spruce but its errand & food shopping day today. With LO in tow, it will take twice as long, so with that in mind, ought to have a second cup of coffee to keep me going!

Have a great day everyone.

Morning

Shanna loads of kids are sick during the first few weeks back at school, don't worry about it. 18 children were off from our small village school on Weds! I had hoped we'd avoid nasty bugs for a bit longer too but unfortunatly we've been well and truely struck down this week! However both dd and ds are back at school this morning and seem fit and well

I have to get my self together today to catch up on things - having poorly children around the house all week has made me very lazy!

There's a little bit more to do to the fancy dress costumes but not too much and I need to run some errands into town if I feel up to it (bit dodgy myself this morning) Then there's all the usual hum-drum stuff...laundry, picking up and putting away, wiping, swishing, sorting.... it's the same old, same old...

Good morning everyone

Sorry to hear about kids being unwell, can't be much fun for anyone

We have 3 kids in the house this morning (am including my oh in that number) as he's not well!

We're all up & dressed, brekky had, pots done and away, s&s'd bathroom n kitchen. Just about to put towels in wm & pop kettle on. Then write a list of stuff to get in town on Tuesday next week to add to as I go through the weekend

Am also going to make a start on next weeks online shopping order and make sure the forms I need to take into town on Tuesday are filled in. Also need to ring debt man to see if he's heard anything from anyone I owe money to with regards to either paying off or writing it off.

MIL is popping up today as well after J has gone to school so lo will be kept busy most of the afternoon.

Trying to think of some simple, quickish crafty type things to do with the kids in the run up to xmas. So far I have bells from egg boxes, paper chains, angels out of old pop bottles & wrapped boxes for decs. Anyone got any other ideas they'd like to share with me? Not very creative sometimes unfortunately

Right, wm to put on . . . bbl xx

Morning Everyone

Ruby- Could you take the shoes back if you havent had them long. It isnt fair for you to have to fork out for another pair. Its worth a try. DS just got new shoes, 55 euro! Luckily my mum bought them! They're not even 'special' but I needed to get his feet measured and then you feel obliged to buy a pair from that shop....I could have got a pair for half the price from next!

Done-

Everyone up, dressed and fed
D/w emptied and reloaded
W/m on
All this weeks missions
Made DS bed
Sorted whats for tea
Sorted out some of DS clothes for charity

To Do-

Change bedding
Clean fridge ( this should be easy, feel like old mother hubbard at the moment!)
Laundry
General Tidy around

Ive decided too that im going to start doing meal planner. Does anyone else do this? Does it save time and money. Me and DP have decided that we cant carry on spending so much on food. We just go mad in Tesco and everything is so expensive now!The problem is that DP likes meat with everything, I would be quite happy with pasta and sauce!

Everyone have a lovely day

Hello Ladies

Thanks for the thread Tiger Ruby How crass and insensitive of me to prattle on about a manky cat straight after your post. Many apologies to you and yours

Well I've done my morning routines , made the pizza dough and....I have an appointment with the practise nurse at 1. So I've sat and done beggar all.

Oh I've organised the bottles for collection and tidied the porch up a bit and there's a load of washing on

Hope all are well, will catch up on the thread

cafebistro I meal plan! Saves me loads of time and money as I don't have to faff around wondering what oh wants for tea . . . he usually gets what he's given . . . & I go to supermarket or Asda online armed with a list for dinners for 3, brekky stuff and lunches for him and the lo. Stops me randomly buying stuff I either won't use or will have sat around for ages. Also helps me stick to a budget better using a meal planner as I know exactly what my money's gone on

Ruby I would take the shoes back and very loudly tell them they're rubbish and you want money back for them!! & if they say they can't tell them you'll get trading standards people (think that's who I was told to threaten the man who sold me the dodgy handbag with). Not fair in the slightest that after such a short time they need replacing!

Just thought I'd pop back and see what's going on in mn again while I drink my cuppa. & then I'm going to google a few things to make with the kiddies I think rather than write my list . . . will give me something to keep me busy tonight if I don't do it now

Lucysmam- What kind of things do you cook? Do you repeat the receipes or try to find new ones? Ive looked on here for ideas for different receipes but im not very imaginative to be honest.

I cook all sorts cafebistro, tend to keep a list of all the things we have tried out that we like. It includes regular meals we all eat together like

spag bol
chilli
lasagne
shepherds pie
dahl
pasta bake
potato bake
curries
stir fry
sunday roast
bangers n mash
omelettes
fish pie
fish cakes
chops
soups
risotto
cajun chicken salads or wraps
pizzas made using french bread sticks
stews
mince n mash
chicken nuggets

Most of the time I make everything myself but sometimes I do pick up a few bits to keep in the freezer in case of I can't be arsed nights. There's probably loads more as well but can't think straight with 3 people all after my attention! (I swear the kids only play up when oh is here )

When it comes to planning for a fortnight (which is what I do atm), I get my list out & pick out 15 meals (gives us a little bit of choice when we're running low) & write down what I will need for those meals, basics like beans/other tinned stuff and stuff for brekky & lunch.

That's a bit long n waflles on but hope it helps you a bit xx

Hi everyone

Firstly please go to this thread
breastcancer
I just received an email from a friend about it.
As thought no flying done today. DS's nose is running now as well but they are currently wrestling on the carpet so I don't think they're too bad.
Sorry world war 3 is breaking out will be back shortly.

lucysmam · 19/09/2008 12:57

both. If I buy them I get Asda's own cod fish cakes which are 99p I think for 10 (or they were around that last time I shopped)

you could always try plain fish baked in a little wine? or brushed with a little olive oil & a squeeze of lemon juice? or a pie with pastry rather than mash on top?

If you want, I will get my book out once the kids are fed and post the recipe I use for fishcakes. I tend to be a bit hit & miss though & just judge amounts for stuff like that rather than follow recipes exactly

Hello Giraffes,Laura, Bewilder EHM, Tigger, Greyskull, Bianca, Ruby, Cafe, Minor, Lucys, TMH, Shannara,Scatty and Ludaloo
We've been offline for a couple of days and are now back on. Yippee!!
Sorry to hear so many of the children are feeling ill. I remember that flu that used to go around university the second week. The lecture theatre would be empty by week three.
Guess what! I've almost finished my tiles. Yay! I know I know. But at least we are nearly home and dry, definitely going to post a photo after (carefully avoiding the bashed and marked walls)
Hope your BIL's test are going OK Ruby
I haven't had time to read all, but hope your mum is improving TMH I noticed her BF was helping out last time I checked.

Shannara have also clicked

Anyone noticed I'm here a lot today!?!? OH has taken over with the lo so I am redundant, which means I can play on MN all afternoon

But I am a bit bored, and also gasping for a cuppa and biccy. Off to the kitchen I go, sure there's some more pots to wash or something to be done in there, always is
