How do I deal with the large deposit blocking the toilet which I know doesn't belong to anyone in my family...

Ordinarily could deal with it but its making my stomach turn! Any thoughts on removal which don't involve sticking my hand in the toilet??

HRHMamazon Thu 18-Sep-08 22:17:40

how do you know its not of your family?
and if it isn't how did it get there?

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:18:51

It was FIL. Nobody else been here today.

Really can't face it

solidgoldbrass Thu 18-Sep-08 22:18:58

Do you have a problem with shitting poltergeists or something?

You could try poking it with a kitchen implement stick I suppose.

BroccoliSpears Thu 18-Sep-08 22:19:17

Boiling water helps to break things up.

Downside: poo steam [bleurgh].

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:20:10

I know technically FIL is part of my family but not in the " I love you so will remove your blockage" sense

muggglewump Thu 18-Sep-08 22:20:13

Plunger?
My toilet isn't plumbed quite right and blocks all the time. Plunger clears it no problem and if you flush at the same time you don't have to see the erm deposit

VersdeSociete Thu 18-Sep-08 22:20:24

Poo steam is worse - if you can smell it, it means particles of it are in your nose. blech

mabanana Thu 18-Sep-08 22:21:22

break it up with the loo brush and keep flushing. Ugh.

FrayedKnot Thu 18-Sep-08 22:21:37

Buckets

Lots of em

It will shift eventually

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:22:00

Yuck poo steam is not something I fancy

and don't have a plunger sad

whomovedmychocolate Thu 18-Sep-08 22:22:37

If it's the FIL it's your DHs responsibility. Hand him the bog brush and retire to a comfy chair while he deals with it.

FrayedKnot Thu 18-Sep-08 22:23:12

No no no

Do not touch it

Just keep filling buckets and chucking them down

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:24:17

Like the way you think whomovedmychocolate. Unfortunately DH is out on the town!

Might leave it for him though!

roquefortlover Thu 18-Sep-08 22:25:02

Another vote for buckets, preferably poured from high up! Our flush/plumbing is rubbish and it always sorts it.

BecauseImWorthIt Thu 18-Sep-08 22:25:06

Chuck a load of bleach down and leave it overnight.

whomovedmychocolate Thu 18-Sep-08 22:26:48

Oh definitely leave it then and tomorrow when he sobers up - give him the bog brush and say "I can't believe you did that when you were drunk - sort it and then you can make a start on begging my forgiveness for your behavoir" grin

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:29:15

grin

Dalrymps Thu 18-Sep-08 22:31:41

Dh says pour bucket of water slowly down front of pan, apparently crates a vacum and clears it. Good luck.

fishnet Thu 18-Sep-08 22:35:47

right i'm off to the garage to find buckets

whomovedmychocolate Thu 18-Sep-08 22:57:57

I hope you don't get splashback when you do this! hmm

MrsMuddle Thu 18-Sep-08 23:16:32

Get a wire coathanger and break it up. Then flush. And throw out coathanger. Then vomit.

FairLadyRantALot Thu 18-Sep-08 23:20:04

my vote is for plenty of bleach and leaving it over night...shoud break it up....

moondog Thu 18-Sep-08 23:22:32

Shrieking in appalled fascination at poo steam.

MintChocAddict Thu 18-Sep-08 23:22:48

How did you get on fishnet???
You should think yourself lucky. At least you know your FIL. I was once left with the bottom deposit of the man who delivered my new bed. blush
