Boring sorry but please talk to me about dishwashers

Okay, so having read the "Does a dishwasher change your life" thread, I am now convinced!

Could anybody recommend a specific one please? Are they easy to fit? We already have the pipes for one, from the previous houseowner.

Get a Bosch one, they last donkeys years and are really simple to operate.

Make sure you check the width of the space though, they come in different sizes.

i have a bosch one, it's good. the detergent drawer's broken but that's the first thing to go on any dishwasher. don't know about fitting one though, i guess the water pipe bit is easy, dunno about the drainage pipe thingumy.

Brilliant - I was wondering about Bosch (have a Bosch fridge) and you've confirmed that. So if the supplier (am thinking John Lewis) doesn't fit it, how does one go about getting it fitted please? Sorry to be dim!

Miele. I had a thread asking about them a while ago and all the Miele owners raved about them.

Failing that, have been happy with Bosch in the past.

I have a bosh one too.

As for fitting the waste pipe fits into the same one as the sink waste.(you can buy the U bend thingy with dishwasher attachment from B & Q)

The water is supplied from your cold pipe from the sink (a self seating tap kit)

Bosch Exxcel, the one with the metal bottom not plastic.

It is ace, not too expensive to buy and will last forever, ours is great and cleans stuff perfectly.

bosch! look on ebay people are always flogging them so they can put in integrated (no one must know the shame of my white goods) ones.

I think that Miele and Bosch are good makes, but I would like to see which have the best energy/environmental ratings.

Was about to say that you can't go wrong with a Bosch (have washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher), and have had the former two for 13 years now, BUT the repair man recently advised me (he only came to clear the sock that was stuck in the waste pipe!) not to consider (when the time comes ) replacing them with the cheaper Bosch ranges because nowadays they're manufactured in Italy, not Germany, and aren't so good. He recommended it's worthwhile paying for the higher end, which are still German, apparently.

Also, depending on how open-plan your kitchen is, my Bosch (and my friend's Miele) is virtually silent. Sometimes I have to open it to see if it's still going, although it does beep at me to say when it's done.

Having recommended a Bosch, I have a Neff one. Which is lovely. The bits for the fittings will cost you £15 from a DIY store and it takes about six minutes to do.
