OK, sure it's been asked before... How do I clean the naaasty black gunk out of the rubber rim of my washing machine?

I can't get anything to shift it completely... not even elbow grease!

run on a very hot wash?

Run it empty, 90 degree wash, slug of white vinegar in the conditioner drawer. Then scrub any residue left.Run empty again on a hottish wash with detergent as normal to remove vinegar smell.

-never use liquid detergent again
-consider not using fabric conditioner (nasty petro-chemicals anyway)
-run it empty on super-hot every couple of months to clean it through.

I don't understand the vinegar thing, Slouchy, would you explain it simply for me please? smile

yes, as Slouchy said , its the conditioner that does it!!!!
I stopped using conditioner and now dont get the black mould.
If you tumble for a couple of minutes when dry, with those plastic ball things (can get them in pound shop, or woolworths) then clothes are megga soft and dont need ironing.

wabbit - just wondered if your machine was a Bosch?

Mine always does this, but no-one else I know has this problem with theirs.

I can't get rid of the slime stuff on mine and I have tried all these things.

Thankyou so much...

No, not bosch Abbafan (I wish wink tis only a Servis) but will try the vinegar trick and see if it does any good the slimy mould may well be something to do with my love affair with conditioners blush (despite knowing they're awful pollutants - I do use ecover everywhere else in the house though... hope it redeems me in some little way [hopeful emoticon]
