Can I have a bit of a boast please? <<saddo>>

My house was never organized, its always been my downfall, I am NOT a naturally tidy person.

All this came to a head when my MIL commented on my house, it was completely out of order and the cow has been banned for about 3 months

Anyway I decided that I have had enough, not because of MIL but because I wanted to feel proud of my home!

So in the last week I have washed and ironed EVERY item of clothing in the house,

taken 6 binbags of clothes, toys etc to the charity shop,

given 2 bags of clothes to SIL

EVERY item of clothing in the house (bar the ones in the wash) are ironed and hung in the wardrobe rather than in baskets everywhere!

I tidied my bedroom to an immaculate degree, along with the hall, stairs and landing, getting rid of ALL the junk.

I get up in the morning,m make my bed and hoover my bedroom.

The kitchen is lovely, as soon as i do anything its all put away, dish washer is loaded through out the day, washed at night then emptied in the morning.

I know this sounds pathetic to be boasting about this stuff, but I have been so down for so long I haven't been able to do these things, but I really feel different!

I have 2 toddlers, and 21 weeks pregnant, I have SPD, and am STILL throwing up with morning sickness ... this is the reason the house got so bad, but Im on top of it now, and I feel like I am coping.

MIL still isn't allowed in though!

Meaning, she said the nasty things about 3 months ago and hasn't been inside since.

Well done! I always feel quite down and depressed when my house is a state.
Do you want to pop round to my house and sort mine out?

There's nothing like a bit of order in a house, to lift your spirits! Well done you and it isn't pathetic at all!

My DH has depression, at that point it was very bad, I found out he had been doing something I wasn't happy with and I was depressed too (though not been to GP whereas he was on high meds)

I phoned her to ask her for help with talking to him as he was in a bad place and we were arguing alot, she came round and basically said that his depression was my fault because I wasn't coping with the kids (this is 10 weeks pregnant throwing up 10 times a day) and my house was disgusting. (it honestly wasn't, just untidy!!)

My DS had caught a tummy bug from his cousin a few days before and she even said that he was ill because of the house

I lost my rag, kicked her out and haven't seen her since. DH takes the kids to her.

He was being pretty nasty at the time and she switched the blame onto my because the washing had piled up

Things are fabulous with DH lately though, we are both so much better, probably because I haven't had to deal with his mum!

Oh I really feel for you disenchanted. I am 16 weeks pg with number 3, have a very very very demanding 5 year old (like a toddler still really!) and an 11 month old.

I have been lucky in this pregnancy and been able to carry on as normal and I am naturally very tidy and organised but I truly do not know how you have managed to do all that with two toddlers! Do they sleep for hours during the day?!

Today my mum was here and did the following for me;

Washed 3 loads of clothes/bedding and hung it all out to dry
Ironed for 2 hours and put it all away
Generally tidied around after us
Organised all my recycling (it was dreadful)
Tidied all the toys away in the garden

How lucky am !?

During all of this I have not stopped either, why does having a family entail so much hard work?

should be easier now you've made a start, just don't get too anal about it!! so long as it's clean and reasonably tidy noone could expect any more imo with kids around!! & anyone who does is crackers! kids weren't designed for clean super tidy houses, at least mine definately wasn't!

Well done I know what it is like when you get in a mess with the house, everything feels like it is getting on top of you and that is without everything else you have had to deal with. You have done amazingly and should quite rightly feel proud of yourself!!! Wish i could do the same here!
Can't mil's sometimes be a pain in the backside....

Good for you. And if you are not well with pg, MIL should have offered to help you not made comments.

My MIL came round yesterday for DS1's birthday and offered to do my ironing. I told her not to be daft we were having a party. LOL

Also very of you, I wish I could be bothered to sort mine out. I'm promising myself I will start when DS1 starts school tomorrow.

ooh yay well done.

My house has been vaguely straight for a week. The dining room is already starting to lose it, but that is due to ill DH, ill kids, and me being tired. It is still manageable though.

I love it when it is straight. My bedroom is the nicest place Even with the boxes of stock everywhere

well done you - I would be boasting too if I had achieved that.

Our house currently has (as well as all the usual mess) a pile of DH's washing sitting on the sofa because I asked him to take it upstairs a week ago and it has now become a matter of principle

I'm currently trying to bribe my DH to paint the bathroom, I have all the stuff so he has no excuses!

After that it will be babies new nursery, but thats DH's room and he needs to clear his 'collections' out which will probably take a while!
