My neighbour feeds the birds using an open bird table. Bits fall on the floor and I've seen rats scooting around under it picking it up (yes I admit I've nosied over a few times as you can see her garden from my upstairs window).
I have more and more pigeon shit over my back garden, the sides of the house etc. The pigeons might be here anyway in small numbers who knows, but they clearly perch on her house, my house and nearby trees and swoop into her garden to get the food from her table thing.
I have already paid over £100 to have a pest control guy get rid of the rats about 2 months ago but saw one again yesterday.
I have been incredibly patient. I have asked her to stop feeding them, spoken to her daughter (the lady herself is quite elderly and by her daughter and gardeners admission isn't that rational - I am not linking the two before anyone accuses me of being ageist).
She hasn't stopped.
I spoke to the council at the time of getting the pest control man in for the rats - they said that the neighbour probably is causing the problem to a degree and that if I wanted to make a complaint they'd send an environmental officer round to talk to her about it.
Does that seem fair? She's quite fragile and will probably go a bit mad over it and I'm a bit worried about that but I am sick of dodging pigeon poo (not nice for my ds especially) and worrying about the rats and I don't see why I should put up with this anymore when clearly if she just stopped feeding the birds on an open feeder or at all it would help a lot.
What can I do now?
(sorry for ranting!)
