we have similar for barbies/my little ponies/ playmobil/etc etc! not so keen on the plastic but does the job

DS has the boxes from staples for all his lego. We have four of those side by side, and yes it really makes storing all his lego easier!

To be honest thouhg, we inherited the lego along with the sstorage drawers from my little brother, so there is a lot of accumulated lego there from years or collecting.

um...sorry

You didn't ask though! I'm sure I have mentioned it before somewhere on MN though.

We have a custom made wooden box with sections - it was my brother's, my Dad made it. I'll take a picture some time and put it on. Sadly, even though it's HUGE, it's still not big enough for all our Lego.

envy too.

Plastic is so ugly.

SorenLorensen Wed 16-Jul-08 20:36:42

I've put a couple of pictures on - the wonky label on the closed box says "This Way Up" in my brother's writing - from when he was about 7, so we've kept it on for sentimental reasons (and also cos all the Lego falls out if you opene the box the wrong way up grin). The sections in the top part lift out and sit on the underneath trays so you can shut the box.

oooh very nice.

I am even more envy now!

SorenLorensen Wed 16-Jul-08 20:47:34

It makes a handy impromptu 'coffee table' when we have takeaways in front of the TV too grin

Awww, sorry, Cali - and you were so pleased with your plastic drawers (which are very good, btw - I might get some for the 'overspill' - yes, we have a LOT of Lego...)

We have about that much Lego too - I swear the bloody stuff reproduces.

PeaMcLean Wed 16-Jul-08 21:06:14

Do you / your children not, erm, just mix it up???

BettySpaghetti Wed 16-Jul-08 21:08:52

Those plastic drawers are also handy for arts and crafts stuff -DD has some full of fancy paper, sequins, card making kits etc.

I can see the time coming where we're going to need them for lego too when Ds gets a bit older

SorenLorensen Wed 16-Jul-08 21:10:35

Yeah, they do - and when it gets completely muddled we have a grand sort out where I sigh a lot and go "if you would just put the bits back in the right section we wouldn't have to do this..." and am generally rather anal and they roll their eyes a lot and then it's sorted, ready for them to slowly mess it up again. Though, to be fair, they are pretty good and we only have a grand sort out about once a year.

Pea my DS mixes it all up yes, but then my anal organised brother comes over and sorts it all out again, he is still quite posessive over it even though he gave it all to DS!grin

PeaMcLean Wed 16-Jul-08 21:34:43

LOL at you anal bunch grin

What do you think of our storage system???

My dad made us a wooden box too. It's lovely, made of oak with a little pull out drawers and a slot for instructions [sigh] I still have it but it no longer has lego in it.
