Which would you go for? I think the Kitchen Aid is prettier but it's a lot more expensive than the basic Kenwood. Nigella has a Kitchen Aid.....please help me decide (and persuade dh)

amazon are doing kitchen aid classics for 179, though i got mine for 150 last week [smug] it is prettier which i really important in household appliances.

lol @ nigella has a kitchen aid

Kitchenaid - it's so very pretty which means you can leave it out the whole time and not forget to use it because it's at the back of a cupboard. I use mine to make bread, nan, pizza, mayo and loads of cakes! I paid much more than Sheherazade for mine and even DH (who a complete tight-arse) admits it was worth it.

Oooh - I will look at Amazon. That might help with dh - he likes buying stuff from Amazon - ok - it's usually cds but still

DP was the one that insisted that we get out Kitchen Aid!
It's beautiful. And makes excellent cakes.

ok feel stupid but what's the difference between the classic and the artisan Kitchenaid?

blowsy Fri 04-Jul-08 22:11:13

Kitchenaid kitchenaid!! No contest, I have the Artisan (don't know what the classic is - sorry) and I love it soooo much. Apart from its good looks - it's a fantastic mixer.

The classic is the one on amazon and it looks to do everything I would want - it's just nearly £200 cheaper atm. Just wondering if I was missing something?

Kenwood! Kenwood! Kenwood!

My granny has one, my Mum got one as a wedding present and it lasted 25 years of solid use. I love mine. It is truly the volvo of mixers grin.

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:22:06

Hi Liath smile
My mum has a Kenwood - they've been married over 30 years. I admit it's a temptation but the Kitchen aid is prettier <pouts>

and...Nigella has one grin

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:22:49

Sorry - my mum and dad have been married over 30 years - NOT that my mum is married to the mixer blush

hellymelly Fri 04-Jul-08 22:29:43

My mum's Kenwood still going strong after 40 years! I love the idea of the "volvo of mixers"....But I am still agonising over kitchen aid,its all those lovely enamel colours. But then you have to decide on a colour which I can never do.

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:31:57

well if I go with classic then it looks like it's just white - which is fine and easy. If the Kenwoods a volvo - what's the Kitchen Aid?

liath Fri 04-Jul-08 22:35:00

It's a porsche, NL. The Hairdresser's car of the mixer world grin.

blowsy Fri 04-Jul-08 22:35:19

Nooooo! My mil and mum have Kenwoods - they are the old ladies of mixers.

Kitchenaids are funky and trendy and look good enough to have out on display.

Who wants a Volvo on their worktop?

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:36:40

Ok - maybe the car comparison isn't to helpful after all then.....

<wails> But Nigella has onnnnnnnnnnne!

Habbibu Fri 04-Jul-08 22:37:30

Kenwood - substance over style, you feckers.

blowsy Fri 04-Jul-08 22:38:03

Have just walked by my Kitchen Aid and given it a loving buff!!

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:38:27

what does the Kenwood do better though - if anything?

Katisha Fri 04-Jul-08 22:38:32

I've got a Kenwood Patissier. Looks a bit like a KitchenAid for a lot less money and does the job fine.

blowsy Fri 04-Jul-08 22:40:24

Well, that's just a pretendy Kitchen Aid grin

Habbibu Fri 04-Jul-08 22:42:03

It lasts For Ever. Haven't seen any 40 yo KA's on here, have you? They're all buffed and shiny and Not Used Because They're Too Pretty. And Kenwoods can peel potatoes and make ice cream

NorthernLurker Fri 04-Jul-08 22:42:31

Right sorry Kenwood fans - my heart is given to the KitchenAid and I'm ordering now smile

liath Fri 04-Jul-08 22:43:57

Ah well, if bits drop off it into your cake mix don't come crying to us Kenwood devotees!!!!
