I would want to use it for kitchen, bathroom, windows and upholstery too maybe. I would prefer small price grin

I've got the Morphy Richards 9 in 1
Its perfect for me.
I have just done the floors and bathroom
Its good for a greasy cooker top and windows
It costs around £70 I think but I got mine with tesco clubcard vouchers

I think personally they all do the same job. Some have extra attachments and some don't.

The only thing I would say is get one that uses tap water. Mine has to be distilled water which isn't the cheapest.

I have a Karcher, bought at a discount from their outlet website. I don't think it does a great job on my vinyl kitchen floor (I use a Vileda squirty mop instead which is much quicker and easier as well as giving better results), however it is great for getting right into the edges where the floor meets the units. Also great for general hard surfaces and especially tricky-to-get at nooks and crannies which you could spend hours doing with toothbrush and elbow grease. I mostly use the tiny round brush nozzle and you do have to wipe with a cloth as you go to mop up all the dislodged dirt, but use the mop attachment for the bathroom floor. I only use it about once a week at the most though, as you have to get it out, fill it up, plug it in, wait for it to heat up, then wait for it to cool down before emptying again and then putting it and it's accessories away, it's definitely not an every day thing for me, an ecloth and my squirty mop do all the quick jobs.

I have a shark steam cleaner. I have high gloss wardrobe doors. The shark just demolishes any finger prints etc. it's great for floors, bathroom, showers, kitchen cabinet doors. You name it, sharky can clean it.

Yes, I have a very sad life!!!

I have a steam mop, a fancy vax one and a steam cleaner also a vax. I really wouldn't bother!

I really want a steam cleaner but am put off by the Amazon reviews! For every one that has 200/400 5 star reviews, they seen to have 60 saying they're rubbish?! I wouldn't mind 5-6 bad reviews but none seem to have a generally good rating.

I have been looking at these had decided on a vax or a karcher but now may get a polti!!!
Was hoping to use on car seat marks before it goes back to car company - anyone used one for this?

Some of the best steam cleaners for all round home use seem to be the Polti comfort or the smaller Vax models. I found some helpful reviews at this site

ThingummyBob Sun 27-Jan-13 15:14:09

e1y1, it might have been that one, I didn't see it.

The reviews of that one don't look great tbh. Have you used it?

Its around the price I have to spend, but I want the best possible for my cheapo budget grin

I use my polti to steam mop floors, steam carpets, i clean my leather suite with it. I've done my hob, kitchen and bathroom but i prefer to do it with flash and then use the steamer to keep it fresh.

Think of it in terms of any hard surface you could get a bucket of water and wash it down but with the steam cleaner your wiping that moisture away so everything comes up clean but dry!

The Karcher window cleaner vac is excellent as is the Shark steam pocket mop no complaints. I've used a Lakeland steam mop also and it's decent, basic but effective and good price wise. The worst steam mop I've ever used is the Vax, I'd honestly rather get the mop and bucket out, useless.

I have a Polti. It's gone out on loan to a few people over the years. What do you use yours for?

Do you mean this Steam Mop from QVC?

racingheart Sat 26-Jan-13 21:17:44

Are these for carpets too? I'm looking for one that does carpets.
The Polti sounds brilliant.

Tinkerisdead Fri 25-Jan-13 21:01:22

My one was on ideal world and my mum got one. She steam cleaned all my carpets and my oven and I was sold. Ideal world's are more expensive but they often do a demo on the model which is worth watching for tips.

Thanks Doctor. I htink I will order one of those now! I've seen reviews that are good about polti so its time to take the plunge.

<<my house will finally be sparkling clean again soon grin >>

Is the difference with the polti one a bit like the difference between hoovers - some prefer upright and some prefer cylinder or are there other differences? Thanks

Tinkerisdead Fri 25-Jan-13 16:22:32

Ive got the polti vaporetto comfort its a good all rounder for less than £80.00

Nospringflower Fri 25-Jan-13 16:16:57

Came on here to look for info about steam mops. I only really want something to clean our wooden floors. Was looking at this Lakeland one but now am wondering if this shark one would be better. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Alternatively should I just stick with my old fashioned mop?

ThingummyBob Fri 25-Jan-13 11:42:22

I've been thinking about a steam cleaner for a while, but my max budget would have to be about £80.

My step mum saw one on QVC but didn't mange to get the details for me sad

Does ayone know if I am dreaming at getting a decent-ish one his price? I'd want it for general houselhold cleaning as I struggle with scrubbing/wiping for longm, thing like bath, tiles and windows etc.

DJWasp Fri 25-Jan-13 11:33:52
