Housekeeping

FLYbabies, Day 8.....write down your routines.

day 8

I can't bring myself to create a whole folder dedicated to FLYing, but if you want one, now is the time to start it.

I have made a nice weekly timetable with space on the side for morning and evening routines, and a daily space for houseshold jobs and child-related activities, and stuck it to the fridge.

That's a really good idea Jas (also serves as a reminder for anyone else in the house as to what needs doing!)

It's been lovely to have a shiny sink all week (the rest of my kitchen has even stayed tidier!) DS was up most of the night & ended up in bed with me so I had kicks/headbuts from outside and inside so very little sleep. Had really bad BH last night too & as DH is away for another 10 days I'm going to try to take it easy today so wont be doing much flying.

FLylady gives you the weekend off usually, iris. Saturday is "family fun day" and Sunday is "Renew the spirit day"

In the jas house, Saturday is "change the beds day" and Sunday is "stay in your pjs til lunch day"

Thanks Jas.

I put out my clothes before bed and am all dressed. Hurrah!

Does she have suggestions for renew your spirit day, if you're not a church goer?

Hi everyone.

Still not dressed here either ....but I have sorted the dishwasher and re-shined my sink [smug]

Off out today,

Bigbear - just make sure you have some time out for yourself. Maybe a bath tonight or something.

Have a lovely day everyone. I think we're all doing really well.

Yes, time for yourself sounds good.

I've never liked the FL emails(but the site is the best for babystepping ad getting your routine organised.

I've just subscribed to secular FLYladyemails, so I'll let you know if they come through.

Morning all.

I am dressed to my crocs, and have put clothes from the airer into the dryer for a ziz, put clothes from the machine on the airer, and put another load in the machine.

The sink shines

I might pop off and tidy the rest of the kitchen worktops

Hello ladies

I'm not dressed yet....will go and bathe in a bit I think.
Everyone is doing the beds today...I did mine yesterday, so i just have a bit of washing to catch up on.

My sink is still shiny, and my new dishwasher routine is working well. My whole house seems to have benefitted from my better routine this week.

Well done ladies....here's to a great start to FLYing!

hoorah!

As predicted, a late start and am still in pj's . On the plus side, I have managed to unload/load dishwasher, get breakfast, and clean up afterwards (sink shined) and sort out some washing though. Beds were done Tuesday, so will finish my cup of tea (this is my morning chill out time to catch up on MN), then shower, dress and take advantage of the fact that dh is here to play with ds whilst I do a bit more.

BigBear - how about a walk, gym time or a museum/gallery visit as spirit renewal time on Sundays? Or a nice lunch out - though that can sometimes be stressful if kids play up .

Off to B&Q in a bit. Remember the days when you used to spend your money on shoes and handbags?

Hey...was just taking a look at martha's site.... her guide to decluttering is quite interesting...it isn't so different to kelly's approach! (maybe martha is a FLY baby too!)

here

I was also thinking about the ring binder idea...I do think you have a better idea jas with your planner. I already have 2 ringbinders in the kitchen....one is full of recipes, the other is a housework folder (articles on cleaning, tips, printed pages from anthea and martha on how to fold towels, sheets, make table decorations etc.etc. I did feel this folder boardered on weird...so not many people know about it!!)
So I don't think I'll have another folder as it will take up too much space....and I'm quite familiar with what needs doing now

This is a good idea too! A cleaning bucket....I might do that. You could hang it up somewhere (on a cupboard door?) then take it from room to room....

I'm falling off the wagon already girls! dd has been poorly and its taking its toll.... I'm keping my sink shiny and have been mostly getting us dressed before we start the day (except for today when it would have interrupted DH's lay in and I'm feeling in a nice mood) but I've not done ANYTHING else!!

am I right in thinking I should have postit notes to remind me of things? (not sure what tho) our clothes for next day layed out every night, and a to do list? is that all I have to catch up on?

I have a cleaning bucket, a smart enamel one with all my bits in!

Jas, I'm going to make a timetable too, I have the laminator warming up ready!

Sink shined,
dressed to shoes,
s&s
dishwaher unloaded/loaded
2 loads washed and hung out, 1 in.
biscuits made (and eaten!) guests entertained!!

And the best part, much less headless chicken style racing around because OHH-MY-GOD-someone-is-coming-over-and-look-at-the-state-of-the-place!!!

For our Sunday treat we are taking a steam train to a local big house (Groombridge Place and Enchanted Forest)which is always lovely and relaxing.

Happy FLYing.

I have laminator envy

entropy - you are doing fine. Keep shinig and getting dressed. We all skipped the post it notes (writing them to remind ourselves to shine sink, get dressed etc.), and you are supposed to relax a bit at the weekend.Just do what you can and jump back in with the extras when dd is better.

wmmc - @ screwfix catalogue. We have one of them, too.

I forgot my update.

Downstairs is tidy, but mch more impressive is the hour ad a half spent trying to sort the dds room. Still not finished, but have a selection of polly pockets sorted out to be returned, and you can see the floor

Think I may just go down the folder route. My mum and MIL already think a dizzy hapless bugger, so don't need to fuel that particular avenue. It can be tidied away if needed. Plus, like organising stuff like that - sad eh? The only room I refuse to try to gain control over is dh's study. It would make the most hardened & organised flylady (let alone, flybaby) throw in the post-it notes in defeat .
Wish the weather was good enough here to put the washing on the line .
Spending the afternoon playing with ds (dh at the match)and trying to think of something nice to do tomorrow. Have a good day off folks!

I have only now done ANY flying at all!....I've put a load of washing in!
Other than that I've done Diddly Squit
Played with the kids (got stuck playing hide and seek )
And um...generally done nothing in particular.
Well...I've been sooo organised this week, I seem to have nothing urgent to do

Hi everyone! Well i had a little snooze!!
This organisation sheet thing, is this something we HAVE to do, is it a flylady thing?? You can see i am just listening to you and not going on the website can't you!!!

Report

Check the links blossomsmine!

Todays step is to write down your morning and evening routines, and put them in a ring binder, as the beginnings of your "control Journal"

For me, this is more clutter. My routines are basic (I don't need reminding to get dressed)and I just have one sheet for everything. If you have a bigger house/ want to be more organised/ are going to be handing over some jobs to an Au Pair (some one was, but I can't remember who) then the folder is probably for you.
