Getting coffee grounds out of a cafetiere?

Can anyone suggest the best way to get coffee grounds out of a cafetiere please? I use mine several times a day and although I use a spoon to take them out there is always quite alot left stuck on the bottom and sides which I don't like to swill down the sink or into the bin due to possibly blocking the sink and having the bin swilling with water.

Mine go down the sink, but you could tip them into a sieve then empty that into the bin.

Or buy an aeropress.

I use a small silicone spatula to get the coffee dregs out straight into the food bin.

Mine have been flushed down the sink every winter for over 30 years (four times a day) with no blockages. From Spring, they get emptied onto flower beds to enrich the soil!

Mine go down the sink. Have done for 30 years. No problems, infact I wonder if it scours the pipe out.

Someone told me that I would block the sink if I put them down there, so interesting and a relief to know that isn't true!

I put some water in, swish it round and then pour onto the garden.

Year round! Good for the soil, and I wouid be concerned about blockages (good to hear they are not inevitable)

We get blocked sinks at work a lot from people washing grounds down, so i would be careful. It probably depends on your pipes. I use a “supoon “ spoon (I think it is technically for scraping things out of jars) and it is excellent and scrape into the food waste caddy after pouring as much liquid as possible down the sink. Though these days at home we have a filter machine

Water - swish - down the sink. Never had any problems. Added bonus: coffee is also an odour eater, no smelly sink.

Silicone spatula. £1 from Ikea is the best because of how thin the edges are.

I gave up cafetiers (when I would sill down sink - never a problem and put in garden during spring summer) and now use a simple drip filter cone with filter paper.
I’m guessing you could just swill grounds out and into filter paper - once drained into food recycling or bin (depending on your LA services).

That's why I use a filter machine.

We got told off at my former workplace by the plumber who had to unblock the sink in the staffroom caused by the coffee grounds.

If you use it several times a day, a small sieve, then you can knock it into a bin or other container.

Mine also goes on the garden. It shakes easily out of the container when dry.

I bumble about in the garden in the pissing dark with the garden hose swilling it onto the soil, resolving to buy a really fine sieve each time so I can swill it over the kitchen sink and put the grounds in the food caddy bin.

I swill mine out and throw it in the garden, don't bother spooning anything out. All of it goes on the garden.

Mind you I do have a total wildlife filled jungle and don't care what the neighbours think.

slugs don't like coffee! so out in the garden! I put a little extra water in & swish it out into garden the remains I put more water in turn on tap & pour the last bit down (ie dilute it)

I used to put on the garden at my old house but some of the plants really didn’t like it. Once we get our compost heap up and running in our new house it will be fine. But we use filters now anyway
