Freestanding Washing Machines

Hi all, please can someone advise. I have a integrated washing machine that came with the house I bought and last night it stopped working. It's a NEFF and similar ones to replace are 900-1000£ range. Can I replace with a freestanding one in same place? These seem more cheap and I am ok to not have the door in front of the machine. I have a power point and it's next to sink.
I called NEFF and based on serial numbers they say it's 20 year old and no point trying to fix it. The lights come on but drum won't rotate and it had a burning smell when it stopped working.

As long as you have enough space to fit one and all the pipework and all the electrical bits needed then I don't see why not. You may need to remove kick boards to fit it. When we got our kitchen done we chose to keep our freestanding appliances (apart from oven and hob)

Thanks a lot, I am looking online for offers. Have measured the space I have. Does anyone know if washer dryers have more issues than a washing machine?

I just don't think they are as good as separate machines. I used to have one but ended up replacing it with a washing machine. I don't have a dryer now.

Thanks @dementedpixie, that's the impression I am getting. How do you dry clothes in winter? In summer I put them out. But struggle in winter.

I have 2 clothes airers in a spare room and use the banister too for things like towels/bedding

If you have an effective extractor fan in bathroom or utility room, hang wet washing in there with door and window SHUT and fan running. It will suck the water vapour out of the house.

A modern bathroom extractor is quiet and will run for 100 hours on 15p worth of electricity.
