Festive fledglings flying through December - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/11/2019 15:03

Welcome to the December (dare I say the Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Any newbies are very welcome Smile.

**
Flylady also does Christmas missions which I will link to each day. They are really useful and nearer the time she does super missions which help you if you have not managed the regular missions. They are just there to help and as Flylady says... do not worry as you do not need to catch up, just jump in where you are Smile.

Link to the holiday cruising is

here

December’s habit is usually [[http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/december/
pampering yourself]] which is much needed this busy time of year. This can be as simple as taking two minutes to have a cup of tea, if long pampering sessions are unachievable.

The website will update to the December missions etc in the next few days so I will link it again if it is different.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Ghoulette for the November thread.

Just booking my place on the thread for December, calendar like a game of Tetris here too, foxes - but I think it's worse with Primary-aged children, school seem to throw everything in to those last few weeks!

Hi everyone Smile. Yes the calendar is so so busy this month. I was feeling smug thinking at least I have all the birthday presents bought then I realised we have one I forgot about. Luckily it’s in a couple of weeks so have time to get something.

Well I am off to my work Christmas night out. Hoping I do not make a drunken fool of myself we all have a good time.

Our town has already had a Christmas thing so I feel it can begin now Grin.

Jumping in for December. Dp being at home for 2 weeks whilst he waited to start a new job completely distracted me in November but he is back at work now and I am determined to keep my focus. Very little bought and nothing wrapped for Christmas so I need to get on my A game!

Since it’s officially December I’m posting here instead of the old thread. Thank you for setting this up stressy and for the old one ghoul/tinsel :)

Had a lovely evening out, bit wired now! :) I might do some drawing while it’s quiet. Now that it’s December I can start my new drawing challenge where all the prompts are festive themed!

I can’t believe I had the idea we’d be all sorted by now for Christmas. Hahahahaha. So stupid.

I need to figure out the rest of Cagletini’s book advent calendar as well. Not wrapping them or anything I just found some second hand board books on eBay and was going to give her one a day. But want to sort out her current books first as a few are falling apart.

Eek it’s december! Signing in ready. I’m sure we’ll get through it with flylady and each other.

DD woke up at 5 but I’ve managed to get her to go back to sleep. Unfortunately that’s on top of me, arms round my neck so I have no choice but to lie here and Mumsnet.

To Do:
Two loads of washing
Ironing of work stuff and also going to tackle my Christmas party outfit. Party isn’t for 2 weeks but it’s a big heavy black jumpsuit and it takes forever to iron. It’s been lurking in the bottom of the ironing basket for who knows who long and I want it ready to go.
Write some cards out
Put together DD’s new storage unit (unless DH is too hungover in which case it’ll have to wait til next week)
Pan of soup for work lunches

Thanks for the last thread Tinsel, and thanks to you all for making me so welcome.

Was up feeding the baby just before five, got him back in his bed around 545. Just before dc4 woke up, its going to be a long day!

I have yet again left all the uni work until 5 days before my next deadline Blush

Rabbits, everyone one! Like many of the rest of you, I was up in the night for hour, but this was my cold - I woke up at 1.45 totally unable to breathe without coughing, so I spent an hour browsing MN while I drank hot ginger and lemon and fluffed the dog.

To Dos Today:
Morning routine
Menu plan to 14 November
Proper Lidl shop to 14 December
Finish DH's Christmas present that I'm making
Get Christmas Bunting up in the kitchen (and autumn bunting down)
Wrap a couple more gifts.
Maybe plan the final Christmas card list - really pulling back this year. Overseas cousins (and there are plenty) definitely having emails.

It's DD's washing day, so I don't have to worry about that.
Roast pork for dinner

Ta Das
Advent breakfast and advent calendars achieved - everyone happy!
Keto cinnamon rolls made (I'm gluten free and do better off grains altogether), so I can join in! And they were lovely, DS3 ate some by choice Grin.

Thanks Tinsel for last month's thread and TooStressy for this month's, and thanks everyone for letting me jump in and making me so welcome.

Hello everyone and welcome to December! I am not feeling it to be honest. Went out for work Christmas do last night. Thankfully was sensible and didn’t drink too much but it was just so LOUD! My ears are still ringing which makes me feel very old and grumpy.

Anyway, I am up, with DD2 at her activity. Thankfully DH has taken DD1 to something which is outdoors. They have wrapped up super warm but still I hope they are not too cold.

I have just allowed myself a 15 minute faff on here and now I am going to look at the calendar for the next week.

Big festive wing flaps to Willow, Ive and Expletive and Tinselette (like the name changes Grin), KT, Laputa, Mercury, Bower, foxes, SC, Chic, Shannara and everyone else.

Morning! I've decided today is Christmas decoration day. But first a mini clean of house. I know that's not really part of flylady but I think the place needs it before decorations go up. I'm starting upstairs and when DH and child go out this afternoon, I'll progress downstairs.

I have wrapped all non family pressies.

I am dressed to slippers and will finish a cuppa and get going...

Good luck with deadline I've ! Brew

Mahoosive thanks to Ghoulette for a really really fab November thread! FlowersGinHalo

And huge thanks to Toostressy for guiding us all through the festive prep! Gin GinGin

I agree with Shannara, Advent book calendar is fab idea Laputa!

Sorry haven't caught up with rest of thread yet but just wanted to say ....continuing from Nov last night ... Bower you bloomin' well show him with that chicken girl!!! Grin Grin Grin.

I'm also looking at the calendar in a head spin. Guests arriving 22rd, so have 21 days precisely (including today) to prepare for Christmas (gulp). So many social events and extras to do before then as well. House is (literally) falling down around me.

I was too wired to sleep after last night's event as well ( fund raiser). Not because of loud music or dynamic ambiance ; rather the opposite! Needn't have stressed about language deficiencies (always more challenging in colloquial/group setting) either. Was seated next to a woman who proceeded to tell me about her three boys, their experiences at school, their experiences at Scouts, virtually without pausing for breath, for three, hours non-stop. Don't get me wrong, I was genuinely delighted to hear all about them for the first hour and a half! Smile.

In a bit of a pickle (again) today. I know it's pathetic but what do I do first? (Dog walking and Mass basically ate up up the morning.) Last of the present ordering? Packing up presents for UK? Dossier? Tidying boudoir (can't find anything, it's so bad even getting dressed is stressful), start on Christmas cards, start cake (ingreds are sitting waiting to be mixed), bulb planting (a bit late to start today once I have driven for an hour) , order new freezer, tidy up home office?

I thought I was early with everything but now I I'm suddenly too late!

Willow Wow! If I ever get to the point where I am exchanging autumn bunting for the Christmas kind, then I will declare myself fully Fledged! That's proper domestic goddess stuff that! Hats off to you and hope you feel better soon!

Good luck with the deadline I've!

KTCluck eek it's December > my thoughts exactly Grin
