How i wish i had been flying..................

blossomsmine · 17/08/2007 22:31

I keep thinking about following the flylady rules and do actually do some of her ideas every now and then, but too little too late i think. My ds has invited his friend to stay on Monday for a week and for the last week i have been using any free time i have (not alot as i work) clearing his room, cleaning out cupboards, replacing broken crockery and trying to smarten things up abit. Now i realise i should have always been flying and joining in with the daily fly posts! Any ideas of some jobs i can do round the house that will make it all seem cleaner and fresher but won't take too long as he arrives on Monday and i am working half a day on Sunday??

I would make sure all the light switches are clean and rub any dirty marks off walls and paintwork.

I wish I flew too. Good luck.

zaphod · 17/08/2007 22:40

Take a look around your kitchen, sitting room and bathroom, and clear the clutter. That makes a WORLD of difference to how a room looks. I too, should follow more of Flylady's rules, but have backslid over the summer.

JackieNo · 17/08/2007 22:41

Flylady's crisis cleaning plan?

blossomsmine · 17/08/2007 22:47

Thanks everyone. That crisis cleaning thing is good, the thing she says about perfectionism and that when you are moving stuff you don't need to recycle and sort it there and then, just bag it up for now, is good. I always get bogged down by trying to find places for stuff and then never seem to get anywhere!! If i had been flying i wouldn't be panicking now would I??!! I just haven't kept on top of things, it all looks ok (ish) from a distance but things need replacing and my room is a disaster zone, do you think if i left that it would be ok?? He is not going to go in there is he i could keep the door shut???

Does anyone fancy starting up a newbies fly thread again?

I need to get back into it!

alycat · 17/08/2007 22:54

Yep I really would, but my DS will be in hosp for start of next week - can it wait till Weds at least or I'll never catch up.

ludaloo · 18/08/2007 08:12

You don't need a newbies thread....come over to the FLY threads...everyone is very welcome

You don't have to do loads...honest (we don't crack a whip I promise)

Do what you can, and have a chat

blossomsmine · 18/08/2007 23:47

ludaloo - i read the fly threads and get loads of tips (not that i do any of them!) but i am only really about during the evening so don't know how involved i could get. I would like to read the thread and post the odd thing, do you think flying would work that way or is it best to be on during the day when everyone is posting and encouraging each other?? Maybe i am just looking for excuses!!??
Anyway i am STILL trying to get this place sorted but won't be done by the time the visitor comes on Monday but will hopefully be alot better! Took 3 hours to clean the bathroom today, walls, tiles - everything!! Really need to do something with my display unit in the living room, it has loads of photo frames on it (which i like) but also loads of bits and bobs that shouldn't be there and look messy, will try and get that done tomorrow after work.

blossomsmine - I only get time mosy days to pop into FLY thread in the evenings. i do think daytime is better for support but there are still a few of us about in the evenings.
Maybe just look in for the daily mission for each day.

FlameBatfink · 18/08/2007 23:54

I'm up for another newbies thread

Beware - there is lots of nagging, and dodgy song quotes

I am willing to start on Monday if you want

blossomsmine · 19/08/2007 21:25

I think i might start doing that then tort. Abit busy next week got visitors (hence the frenzied cleaning!) but will try and definately be on more the week after. I really need to try and get involved with the flythread it might help (!!) at least i know i won't be the only night visitor!!

Ludaloo, thanks for the kind invitation have just now looked at the last 2 days and feel that a new start for us may be better.

Or maybe I just don't understand?

I read the mission, which was to spend time doing the Master bedroom but didn't list any other jobs. I think I need to go back to shiny sinks and getting dressed down to the shoes, unless you want to spend any of your precious time explaining how it works???

FlameBatfink, Please can you start next monday? Although that is bank hol. I don't understand how to start it at all. Will need plenty of hand holding and some dodgy song lyrics to get me through!

dandycandyjellybean · 23/08/2007 07:28

(Shyly scuffing toe on ground and twirling hair....) I'd join a newbies thread if there is one...

Jas · 23/08/2007 07:39

I do the regular FLY thread, but mostly just talk about doing stuff and don't actually do it.
I ill start a ne Babysteps thing on Monday if anyone is interested. I could do ith a refresher and my dds ill be at kids club every morning, so I ill have a bit more time.

(I have no letter beteen v and x on my keyboard so my posts need interpreting at times, and I doublepost alot too)

Hello everyone - I erm,......have been following the threads for the last month, and I have to say it does work. Sadly I still have to get to grips with the everyday stuff but I can say I now have no spiders in my porch, all mine and ds' old clothes are with charity, and my kitchen units have been wiped down within the last month

I do admit to not getting dressed down to the shoes and only have a CLEAR sink about once a day....but you have to start somewhere! Right?

tjacksonpfc · 23/08/2007 09:09

ill join the new thread will be easier next week as dcs are at grandparents and when they come back dd starts school so count me in please

alycat · 23/08/2007 09:35

Jas, if you do start a babystep thread I'll be eternally gratefull! (As will my long suffering DH and DCs!)

mcnoodle · 23/08/2007 09:42

Oh yes pleeeease - I need help.

Need experts to drag me through the mire that is mcnoodle mansions. There are heaps of crap everywhere, and I think there may be something/someone living in the cupboard under the stairs.

Jas · 23/08/2007 10:14

No problem then.

(I don't dress to the shoes, have a control journal, or do lots of other things "proper" FLY people do, but I started ith Babysteps, and then picked the bits that orked for me)

BernieBear · 23/08/2007 10:18

Just got back and re-read my post - OBVIOUSLY not ALL our clothes are with charity - the ones we don't wear! (or the ones I am just to fat for now!

I'd love to join in a new thread - I flew brilliantly last year, but it all fell apart at Christmas and I haven't been able to get back in the air since then!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/08/2007 09:02

Jas, Flame - I'll come too as well as on the main fly thread.

I like to chat on the fly thread but I need to refer to the "proper flylady way" often otherwise things dont get done. That means I need to know the zone, the mission, the home blessing and daily tasks. They just dont get done on the daily thread any more which is probably why people get a bit confused when they are trying to start Flylady routines.

blossomsmine · 24/08/2007 23:00

I wouldn't mind joing in if thats ok. Don't know how good i will be but will have a go! I am getting better but it is time i am lacking not enthusiasm!
