Need some vacuum advice...

my dysoon has given up the ghost and I WONT be getting another as we dont have that much money for what was a not too hot hoover.
Anyway question is I am getting wooden flooring all downstairs so dont really need a hoover for there so will only be for the stairs and the girls bedroom as every other room has laminate down. So what strength do I need for one of those little ones. Is 1600W any good???

what little ones are you thinking of.I have the same dilemna,have wooden floors down stairs ,am currently lugging a henry around which I hate.
Would love a lighter alternative.
